Hi all. So here my issue I have a 1990 grand marquis efi all stock. It would start right up with no problem. I dropped the tank an put the stock tank in the back seat.( just to move the car around the driveway) but the car will not start up now. The fuel pump kicks on. If I spray some gas in the throttle body it will start up and stay running but it will not start up on the key with out spraying gas in throttle body.
Anyone have ideas or know what could be causing this?

Check to see if you crossed the fuel lines. Also make sure the tank is tilted up the same way it sat underneath.

I've checked all the grounds and all the wiring.hoses are connected up right. I just don't get why it will start and run if I spray a little gas in the throttle body but I can't just hit the key. I will check the angle on the tank too.

Inertia is bypassed and I tried hot wiring the pump today. It still won't start. It has me completely baffled.

No offense but has anybody answering read this guys post? He said it will start and stay running if he sprays gas into his intake. Then you say make sure the lines arnt crossed when he clearly says it stays running after he spray starts it. Also if its starting with spray and staying running an inertia switch obviously wasn't the problem. No offense I no people are just trying to help but people also seriously need to read what the guy said.
A ground could still be an issue somewhere. So could you give a little more history on the car? Were there any issues at all with starting the car before you moved the tank even a little hiccup? Checking fuel pressure at the rail could be a good idea. Also have you checked all the filters could be small problem there. Any more info you can provide as to the problem will help us try and diagnose.
Again no offense to the people that answered in here but please read?

Car was a daily driver up until about a week ago. Car had always fired up and ran good. This is the first issue the car has ever given me.im gonna go through all the grounds again to make sure I didn't miss one. It just has me baffled. I literally started and moved the car 10 minutes before I dropped the tank. Does anyone know what the fuel pressure should be at the rail? Thanks for the help all.
