This is only my 2nd year building, I have done all midsize builds so far but got a cheap 97 Ranger regular cab. Build rules are fairly stock and cage has to be inside the cab, its obviously tight but I think I can squeeze one in there but wondering do guys cut holes in the cab and bed to attach a tank protector? or is that considered less necessary in these mini trucks and just bolt it to the bed? Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If and when allowed, ALWAYS use a gas tank protector. That's safety. If you can tie it into your frsme, even better. And if you're feeling a bit tight, you can always mount the door bars in the doors themselves.
