Anyone ever use a truck driveshaft that is two pieces with a carrier bearing instead of a slider? I can't really afford a slider and have one of these laying around. Attachments:

Well I am running a new Yorker in a wire class. They have never allowed slider shafts in stock/wire here and now they are and I can't afford a slider. Thought it's be work a shot.

If the floor/rockers are solid I wouldnt really worry about the stock shaft.. If you do use the carrier make sure the rubber is in good usable shaft.. Otherwise it will self destruct..

The only thing different than a slip yoke at the trans and a slip yoke at the carrier, is the location. The only true reason 2-piece shafts were ever used, was long wheelbases. You can order an extra long slip yoke for your trans and use that if you're worried. I use them all the time in truck builds, but I wouldn't use them in a car. I'd just stick with a slip yoke at the trans.

What transmission and rearend are you running? 727 trans with a 8 3/4 rear end. The car is a pre ran and has already nosed once and pulled and plated. Both humps are blown out as well. But I'm going out to just take a few certain people out. I figured a slider would be perfect right now, plus I can use it in the future.

These are not the same as running a slider by any means. And the cushion bearing will likely cause you more headaches than anything. You never see properly built trucks with cushion bearings and there's a reason for this. Find a caddy driveshaft or atleast the front piece or rear piece for a caddy and make a driveshaft. If you don't believe me go ahead and try to separate the shafts on a truck driveshaft. Then you'll see.

Well I have been running derbies for 11 years and lost 4. When the ass end goes sky high it will shuck the drive shaft.

A property clearanced double cardian u joint has far more articulation than any stock strap type yoke, like what mipar tupically uses.

Imperial shaft is only way to go in a mopar obviously unless running slider And all these parts are still attainable. They are pricey but cheaper than sliders.
