I've got a 66 Newport and 66 Fury wagon that I will be running this summer. I have a stock 318 and 360 with new timing chain and aluminum intake. My gear options are 3.91, 4.56 and 4.88. What's the best combination of gears, motor and car? Thanks in advance for the input.

tire height, track size, track condition, transmission choice and more are all factors in that choice. But around me 4.56 is the most common choice.

Tires will be either 25s or 27s on the Newport, 27s or 700-15 on the wagon. Tranny is 727 behind 360 and either 904 or 727 behind 318. Fairly large tracks.

If it's a larger track, go with a shorter, middle of the road gear.
