I am thinking about buying a '58 ford wagon, and just wanted some quick input on how it would do in an unlimited wire type of show. Bumper mounting rules are pretty open and 9 leafs are allowed. Does anyone have any input or ran something like this in a similar type of show? I am slowly reading through the 58-64 thread, but I wanted to throw this out there as I consider buying it.

i would be all over it as long as i could mount a shock bumper with either chrysler shocks or BOP rear brackets on the front. with 9 leafs stiffer body mounts and a good bumper mounted right on the front the body will stay together really well tied together with wire as long as you can get the bumper high enough to not get the clip wiped off the front frame

I forgot to mention body mounts have to stay stock. If you got creative with the wire would it still hold up even with the stock body mounts?

Its a much better limited or full weld tyoe car than a wire car unless you have very liberal wire rules and/or blind inspectors. JMO

if you cant change or at least reinforce the tie rods i would save it for a different show.

I'm a bit curious about this unlimited wire rule. I think they would change that saying if there was anything like that around here...

There was a 60 galaxy (I think) that ran in stock class around here. All I can say is, it was a waste of the car. From what all the veteran drivers and builders around me have told me, never run any car that didn't come with shock bumpers in a stock class.
