i have a 89 crown victoria with the 5.0EFI and was just getting ready to pull it inside to start stripping it but it wouldnt idle i bought the car in november and it ran a little rough but would run and idle and guy said the motor burnt a little coolant (head gasket is out im guessing) but car will only start if the pedal is all the way to the floor. it will stay running if u give it gas once u let of the gas and bring it to an idle it spits and sputters and dies it had a vacuum leak when i got it but it is fixed now. what else could be wrong?

Sounds like a bad vacuum leak. But if it has a bad head gasket and you have access to another motor, I would go that route. Sbc if possible unless it's a stock class that has to be ford to ford combo

Yes, a chevy engine is the fix to a probably simple running issue!

Alright thanks got some bars head gasket sealant gonna try that first and if that doesn't work I'm just gonna run a sbc and run our mid class hoping it's because of the head gasket or a vacuum leak somewhere we'll find out tomorrow night

were would the location for the port to plug the scanner in? Going off of memory here, but if everything is where it was when it rolled out of the factory, it should be under the hood on the driver's side fender well, by the washer fluid tank. It's an OBD I connection, so it should be a larger plug and maybe a one wire plug.
