Please answer the pole and give me some reasoning behind why you chose what you chose, of course no right answer just want to see what others have done in their cars. Reason i'm posting this thread is that i'm working on a school project and i'm thinking about designing and using a different style of e-brake, and for the project i need "RESEARCH" so i came hear, in my mind y'all are a reliable source because there's not much research on why to use them or anything like that.
I raced with a hand operated one and wasn't able to use it because i was fighting the steering issue(no power steering which sucked) to much and trying to avoid going head on in to the wall (again) this was my first race this year at 14 it was fun i just thought the e brake could be better placed and designed, its currently a hand operated one next to the shifter on the floor, by the way i didn't build the car so i couldn't build the e brake.
Thanks for the help guys just looking for other opinions from more experienced builders/drivers
Zach

You would be better off fixing the power steering and putting a spinner knob on the wheel than trying to reinvent the e brake system.Yes I use one for fiqure 8 tracks but not so much on a soft dirt track as lets say mud or grass ones.I welded a pipe on mine that looks like another shifter handle that works well and have considered electric brakes off a trailer but the axle bearings are forever getting beat off from wheel hits but I am shure it could be done.

Thanks for the feedback

Check the lines off pump first bend they like to crack there from the motor movement rubber hose and a couple of clamps works.

I created a hand brake lever with a 3 point pivot using the foot e-brake assy. Eliminated the Ratchet locking mechanism so it releases instantly. It works beautiful! I welded the lever to the foot pedal and bolted in the pivot point in place of the Ratchet. They connect and work nice!
