Have a 86 lincoln 5.0 that was fuel injection pulled that off put on 2 barrel intake and carb. Was told i could use original distributor. Have 3rd and fourth wire along with hot wire on coil directly to hot terminal on battery. 5th wire to negative on coil and 6th wire to negative battery terminal. Do u run 1st and 2nd wire to anything? Getting spark at spark plug and have everything top dead center car still wont start.

May be a dumb question but are you getting fuel?

What is the first and 2nd wire running from. And is your distributor could be 180° out

I agree with maddawg284. HEI really simplifies things. If you can get the timing right, the wiring it as simple as it gets. One wire from positive to the distributor and you're done.
