Maybe it has been posted some where, I have searched several places on this website, and watched several idiots on you tube. So i'm asking questions here now. I have an 86 Lincoln town car that i'm building for stock rules, It has 5.0 EFI in it. Would like to convert it to Carburetor. Can anyone tell me what i need to do this. I have called several junk yards to see about getting an intake, i have been told i will need a intake from a 70s ford pickup, Also have been told i will need to order a new performance intake from jegs. I thought any 302 carburetor intake would work is that wrong? I was told i can hot wire the TFI module on the distributor as well to work correctly for the conversion. I have already done that and it fires fine. Thanks in advance.

88 5.0 is what I had. I used aftermarket weiand, aftermarket edelbrock, and stock Ford 2 barrel intakes on it. I used a motorcraft 2 barrel carb on it exclusively (because I had it, I don't think it was better than other options) I bought the 50 dollar eBay HEI distributor for 302s for my distributor. I used an electric fuel pump a few times, and I took the timing cover off and ground out the opening to bolt a mechanical fuel pump up to the cover as well( which you need the cam eccentric to do, some FI engines have them and some don't)

Yes, obviously you can hot wire the electronic distributor that you have, but you can't go wrong with the $40 hei and anot upgraded coil for it. That's the only issue I've ever had with them. And you shouldn't have a problem with an intake from an 83-85 cfi intake. That's what I had used and it was great after cleaning it up and removing some unnecessary brackets and ports.

good questions answered,,
oh,, BTW,,,, a hot wired TFI ignition system will not have any spark advance,,, it will run at base timing,,
so your performance will not be good...
the aluminum intakes from the 84-85 CFIs will work too,, and ya don't need a carb spacer,, block off the EGR valve,,
you will need a throttle cable from a CFI 302 or a carbed ford,, the EFI cable is too short,, don't forget the cable bracket...
i use a duraspark ignition,,from 70s fords,,
