Looking for suggestions, carbs are not in my wheel house. Car is a 95 grand marquis, 4.56 rear, Hydraulic Tappet RPM Range 1500 - 5200 Intake Valve Lift 0.477 Exhaust Valve Lift 0.477 Advertised Intake Duration 292 Advertised Exhaust Duration 292 Intake Duration @ .050 214 Exhaust Duration @ .050
214 Lobe Separation (degrees) 110 Aluminum intake and aluminum 210cc heads. No clue what kind of power the motor will be making. I've heard local guys suggest carter 625cfm up to a 750 double pumper but I'm interested in advice from guys that have experience with carb set ups on dirt.

holley 500 is something every derby driver should have at least one of. works on 99% of applications.

If you don't want to spend the $$$ on a holley pick up a motorcraft 2 barrel. They are a diamond dozen. Stay away from the 1.08 and 1.14 for your application. Look for the 1.21 and 1.33. I have 2 4412's and 5 motorcrafts. Can never have enough carbs lol.

You don't want to throw a huge carb on it, even though it's got work done to it. Everyone thinks that if you are dumping more fuel, you are making more power. Well, that doesn't work in derby application. In this sport, you need to worry more about keeping that engine running when it's at 280+ degrees.

That's makes sense, I do heat races with the car though not straight on derby.

I know there is a difference between dirt track and derbies but there are plenty of high horsepower dirt track motors with 2v carbs. Don't underestimate a 4412 even on a built motor.

For sure, I'm doing research on the recommendations you guys are making while waiting for all my other parts to show up. I assume I will want to run a manual choke carb to eliminate any issues an electric choke could cause?

I don't run chokes period. I remove the butterfly(s). Never had an issue. Obviously, if you are running it in a below freezing environment often, I would get a manual choke. But if it's strictly for race purposes, I wouldn't worry. I don't have a problem getting my engines to start in the winter, couple extra pumps of the pedal, fire it up, and hold it at about 1500rpm for a little bit and she's good.

4412s are plentiful too at swap meets and hot rod shows find at least one every year that's pretty clean for under 75 bucks that's the least I can say
