Is the 8.8 axle in a box Ford the same size as a 8.8 in a 77 ltd...?

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they didn't come with a 8.8.... either a 9" or that odd ball rear they used in them years.

It's not a 9 inch 4 sure, cover is on the back, when the axle walked out it was dam near same size as a box 8.8... and it has big bolt Ford pattern...

It's not possible to have big bolt Ford.
It probably has big bolt GM pattern, 5 on 5.
If it's not a 9" then it's the weird rear end they used like stated above.

It has big bolt GM pattern, 5x5. Big Ford is 5x5.5.
It's an 8.7 WER rear.
Not anything in common with an 8.8

Problem with using anything else is that those cars have that odd ball 3 link mounting deal.
