Hey everyone I just got a car for next year it is a 1979 Chrysler LeBaron was wondering if anyone has ran one if they are better as a chain minimum weld class or a full weld car And building tips for those cars would be much appreciated because I've never built a Lebaron. thanks

Welcome to the site. it takes a while to get orientated and figure out where things are located. the Thread locators at the top of each thread are a great tool to help find direction for specific topics(rear ends, transmissions, brakes, suspension) you found the Mopar thread, off good start so far. A 79 Lebaron is considered an M body, many people refer to these cars as dippys (short for diplomat) The thread you are looking for is here: we-crash.proboards.com/thread/14201check out the thread locators to get more specific as far as what to do with leaf springs, rear differentials, engine wiring and transmission coolers ect. check the general thread as well as mopar specific. there is a mass of information here, check out picture threads for FMJ bodies... check out what failed on other peoples cars, try to engineer ways to overcome the flaws of other peoples builds. Best of luck.

seventyonehemicuda That was the most helpful post I have read in several months. Thanks for you awesome explanation. That is exactly what this site needs more of. There are way too many people (occasionally myself) who loose site of the primary objective of this website is here for. It is to share and learn tips and tricks involved in building and running demolition derby cars, because we love this sport and hope to see it continue to grow. Many are way to quick to jump down the newcomers throat because they don't know what they don't know. We were all newbees once. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Thats a good choice of car for either class, but Im partial to Mopar, so my opinion may be a bit biased LOL. It has its pros and cons, just like every car. Use the threads the guys gave you here to sort all that out. It really depends on how much time & money youre willing to spend, what you'll be competing against etc. That car in any class would be a good choice, if youre running against a bunch of other late 70s/early 80s cars. Against Imps, suicide Lincolns etc, that might be another story. Just my 2 cents. I hope this helps, & good luck!
