I'm picking up a '94 F150 with a 5.0 and swapping it to carb and HEI distributor. A few questions I have. 1. How can I fit sure tell if it's a roller cam without pulling everything apart? I know all 302 blocks after '86 were roller ready, buy I haven't found a for sure source of what engines actually got a cam. 2. If it is a roller do I need a different distributor? I've read that the shaft needs to be 1/2 inch longer for a roller, but I've also read that it doesn't matter. If I use the older style (pre 86) HEI do i need to swap the gear to a steel gear?
Been doing a lot of research but can't find definitive answers.

When I ordered my 302 HEI distributor off ebay, I called the store(seller) and told them what I had. Never had any issues. Its currently in a buddys driver mustang.
