I just got a 383 disassembled has 208 dart heads and 13:1 compression!! Has msd ignition. Would the 13:1 compression be god for a derby car or should I put it in a muscle car? Not trying to be all technical just simple question is all?

Too much compression for a derby motor imo.

To much compression for a derby motor imo.I'm going to assume based on the given info that it has dome pistons, you could always put flat top or even dish pistons in it and run it that way. 13:1 is high for a street motor also.

I've seen dual carbs and a blower on a derby car before, so yeah it will work. but keep in mind a 13:1 engine runs rough at low RPM's, better at high RPM's, needs high octaine fuel (IE $7-10 a gallon kind), and generates a lot more heat

Yes it will be fine. With that compression it should have a good size cam and carb. You may need to run a larger than normal stall converter to keep it in its happy zone. Guessing probably 3000 or so. Not saying it won't get hot fairly quickly. Like I said it comes down to type of fuel, having carb and timing set good and keeping water in it.
Would be better suited for a mod car where a radiator will usual stay in it, vs a wire car where it usually gets junked.
