Need a sure bet answer.
Did any passenger car rear ends....8.8 rear ends come with stock/factory 31 spline axles?
1979 to 1993/94 style with drum brakes.
Thanks in advance.

I have never seen an 8.8 with 31 spline axles in a passenger car. I have worked on hundreds, and rebuilt many. If you are looking for a factory 31 spline, check explorers.

Thats not correct but early lincolns and vics had different length axles from 91 to 94 i believe i have a 91 squarebody vic and the axles are longer than the 80s 8.8s

Only the explorers and rangers had 31 spline. Mainly explorers.

I think Rangers still had 28's... 31 was an exploder and F150 thing. I would like to know though while this is on the table, can a guy use exploder shafts in a box Vic? I'm working on a budget sleeper (81 Vic) project and would like to save a few bucks with OEM parts VS Moser or something

I believe the explorers were just a hair wider then the cars. But there was rangers that had a 4.56 gear in them. Might be able to find ya a cheap set of gears but you're gonna have to do some hard core hunting

I've run 28's in a 500HP car with no problem before, but this will be approximately 800 and I'd rather build it a little heavier from the beginning

Explorers have different length axles. Never measured but one side might work
