Hey guys, first time Derby builder and I sure need some help. I just finished stripping a 94 dodge intrepid, and I fired it up to make sure it still ran. In the process, I think I fried the engine computer. I've heard of guys bypassing/eliminating the computer systems completely by running direct power to the necessities and a switch board in car. Can anyone offer any guidance, or did I just ruin this car? Thanks, Nile.

Unless you get a stand-alone injection module for it, you won't get around the pcm. No way possible.

Sounds like you need to go to the junk yard and pull another computer. Go trough check all the wires you cut. Make sure you have a good ground to the computer and try hooking up the junk yard computer.

Yep all modern FWD compacts will need the computer. What is your reason that the computer is fried?

Do the guys running carbs on 3.1L still use computers?
Not trying to sound like a smart @$$, I simply don't know much about that subject.

The w-bodies using carbs do not need the computers anymore once switching to carb.

Just pulled another computer, and it fired right up. The old one was shorting out in the pcm itself, pulled it apart and ran power to it to see if that was the case, and one of the diodes in the board was red hot and burning up the rubber. Long story short, old one just went bad, new one from a junkyard fixed my problem. Thanks everyone
