Anyone run 3/4 redirod for hood and side plates? In your experience is 3/4" strong enough?

That's the max size threaded rod we can run. Works for me. I've had it bend but IMO it's strong.

It all bends. But the black grade 8 or whatever is definitely stronger than the hardware store stuff.

Usually use six 1" in the hood and two 1/2" in the trunk.

What I've started doing to my hoods is cutting/folding/rolling them and welding them on and basically turning them into more firewall. more fender, and more core support. IMO a hood is useless scrap. it traps heat, buckles and gets in the way of your vision, kinks your headers, is a pain to pull off between heats, can be even worse to get back on... not worth the effort to me. I make the hole in the hood from the core support all the way to the fire wall. I can swap out rads with ease and without removing a clumsy hood. There is a youtube video of a demo car time lapse build. what i do to my hood is very similar to what they do.
