The Knox County Fair in Knoxville, IL will be having a Figure 8 on Friday July 8th starting at 6:00 p.m.

KNOX COUNTY FAIR DEMO & FIGURE 8 DERBY 2016
GENERAL DERBY/FIGURE 8 RULES – These rules pertain to all classes.
1) All drivers must wear an approved full-face helmet, eye protection and seat belts
2) All cars must have approved seat belts secured to or around the frame
3) A fire suit is recommended. Full-length pant & long sleeved shirts are required for all drivers.
4) All derby vehicles that do not pass inspection will be allowed to make corrections. If the vehicle is not able to pass inspection, it will not be allowed to enter.
5) All drivers must complete an entry form and attend the pit meeting with their crew members.
6) All drivers and crew members will receive and must wear a pit ID band
7) Vehicles should be decorated in good taste only. No foul words or slogans permitted.
8) Must make solid contact with a moving car (still in competition) in the derby every 60 seconds or will be disqualified.
9) Stick on car must be brought down on all disabled or disqualified cars.
10) Prizes subject to passing post-race inspection by officials.
11) Intentional driver door hit will result in disqualification.
12) No car may run in the final event unless qualified in the heats
13) Drivers must be 18 years or older to compete.
14) No riders
15) Gas tank, fuel line and battery must be relocated and secured. All tanks and fuel lines must have acceptable cover and protection. No Gas Cans allowed.
16) Stacks through the hood are allowed, so as they point up
17) Cars must have protection to keep hoods from entering drivers compartment. Acceptable= Bars bolted or welded to firewall up to roof or #9 Wire wound and installed from firewall to roof center of windshield
18) Two holes minimum 6” diameter must be cut in hood for fire extinguishing.
19) Car numbers must be visible for scoring. We recommend roof top mounted number plates. Numbers are by first registered.
20) It is highly recommended that the driver’s door be painted white.
21) ALL DECISIONS MADE BY THE OFFICIALS ARE FINAL.
Demo & Figure 8 SMALL CAR WIRE CLASS RULES (GENERAL RULES LISTED ABOVE ALSO APPLY)
1) Any year 4 or 6 cylinder only with FWD, RWD is ok if wheelbase is 105” or less.
2) No 4x4 or full frame Rear wheel drive cars accepted.
3) All rules for the 1980 and newer wire class apply to the small car class except as stated here. All the 1980 and Newer Wire Class Rules below apply to small car class.
4) No leaf spring conversions, must use stock suspension.
5) All General Derby rules apply. See General Derby Rules.
6) Small cars inspected the same as 80s and Newer and Open Wire Cars.
Demo 1980s & Newer WIRE CAR CLASS RULES (GENERAL RULES LISTED ABOVE ALSO APPLY)
1) Completely remove all glass, mirrors, plastic, air bags and rear decking (wagons).
2) Any bumper may be used, (can use homemade stock appearing bumper), and welded 4” back from the front of the frame so long as it does not come in contact with the radiator support mount. Bumper can be welded directly to the frame. Can shorten the frame from the radiator support forward, radiator support mount must remain in the stock factory location. Using the stock air conditioning condenser as a radiator protector is allowed but must only be bolted in 4 spots.
3) Drive Train- Ford on Ford, GM on GM, etc. Stock 5 lug rear end only. Motor mounts may be welded to the frame as long as they do not strengthen the frame. Transmission coolers allowed.
4) No distributor protectors, tranny protectors or engine protectors/cradles.
5) No homemade slip drive-shafts. Factory type drive shaft for that year only.
6) Any tire allowed. No split rims.
7) Gas tank protectors allowed, After-market steering, gas, pedal and shifter allowed.
8) Radiator mounts may be replaced with ¾” bolts but cannot extend through the hood.
9) Protection bars - one bar across dash and one bar behind seat no further than 4” from seat. May connect front dash bar and rear seat bar. Drivers door protection bar strongly recommended. Roll over bar allowed but not to be reinforcing frame. Absolutely no kickers.
10) Front door seems may be welded shut. No other seem welding allowed at all.
11) Hood and deck lid must be capable to open for inspection.
12) Two straps allowed from A-arm to the frame for height adjustment allowed but otherwise stock suspension only.
13) Frame and Sheet metal may be notched or pre bent.
14) All body mount bolts must be stock except for the two radiator mount bolts.
15) Unlimited wire allowed. No welding or reinforcement unless otherwise stated above!
Demo & Figure 8 OPEN WIRE CLASS RULES (GENERAL RULES LISTED ABOVE ALSO APPLY)
Same rules as 1980 and Newer Wire Class with the following exceptions:
1) Any year car but No Chrysler Imperials, no hurses, ambulances, trucks, el-camino/ranchero or 4x4 cars allowed
2) Any motor, transmission, 5-bolt rear end and drive shaft may be used.
3) May lightly re-inforce trailing arms, Light rear-end bracing allowed
4) Any stock leaf spring rear suspension allowed. No replacement heavy duty truck leaf springs allowed.
5) Conversion of watts link to a standard 4 link is allowed with brackets bolted in stock factory locations so as not to reinforce the frame in any way. No welding of brackets.
6) Can run distributor protector, tranny protector and engine cradle so long as those listed above do and cannot reinforce or add strength to the frame or body of the car. The engine cradle cannot reinforce the frame and will only be allowed if mounted at the same two points of contact as the factory engine mounts. Any tolerance around cradle that will result in the cradle reinforcing the body or frame will not be acceptable. Firewall must be cut so that distributor protector can and will not contact dash bar or firewall. If running transmission protector, firewall must be cut down to where tranny tunnel starts.
7) No welding, patching or reinforcing anywhere than otherwise stated above and in the 1980s and Newer Wire Class Rules.

Any year car so long as can be defined in classification of either Full Size Car or Small Car but no hurses, ambulances, trucks, el-camino/ranchero or 4x4 cars allowed. All General Rules Listed Above Apply and will be checked at inspection.
FIGURE 8 & DEMO HEATS
The classes will be composed of individual heats and one feature, with a cash purse going to the drivers qualifying in the feature event, and the grand prize going to the winner of the feature. Feature events will be made up of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each heat, or as otherwise specified. The Knox County Fair Board Association reserves the right to determine the number of vehicles that will participate from each heat in the feature event. Preceding the feature, any vehicles still able to run (providing that it has run a prior heat) may complete in a consolation heat for a chance to advance to the feature event.
