My rules for mini truck says I have to use a factory truck bumper just wondering which factory bumper is thicker will be a 89 ranger.

I would use a front bumper reinforcement off a newer GM or Toyota fullsize truck or SUV with rubber bumper covers. They are HSS (high strength steel) and are way stronger than any chrome skin type bumper that ever came on any regular pick up truck of any year. JMO

May try that route.

If that's the case find a Malibu. Same bumper with a couple additional inner reinforcements compared to the el camino.

JMO Do you know what years they started using the HSS bumpers? Or how to identify them. Would be fun to try one on a compact.

I have ran them on many compacts, they look like compact bumpers if you cut the ends down a little, file the rough edges, and repaint them flat black. Just look for late models with rubber bumper covers.
