Why do people fold or bend down the fronts of their hoods? is it for support or to hide something in the core support?

Looks, support, and the fact that we don't want 10" of hood sticking out.

Because if the part of the hood is left hanging out there when it gets hit it bubbles up your hood and you can't see or buckles in and gets into things you don't want it to.

Also adds a bit of protection to rad if your running one. on some of the old chryslers you can almost get the hood to hit the top of the bumper which really helps protect the rad.
