Does anybody have a good way to drill larger holes in Axle Flanges and front Hubs. Axle are obviously hardened steel and not easy to drill. Any help would be helpful.

If you are just putting larger studs in in the same bolt pattern I have found a ream that is the proper size for the new studs works best.

Drill bit, they are not as hard as people say they are. That's just the stigma.

Yeah, axle flanges are hardened steel. Just get a good bit and drill it out. Use some wd40 so you don't burn the bit up.

It's a bad idea to use WD40 to drill metal. Use brake clean or gum cutter or drill oil.

If I'm not mistaken Brake Clean fumes can be highly toxic when heated and make you sicker than a dog.

Igniting brake cleaner gives off a gas known to the world as mustard gas. Burning chlorine.

One reason for not using WD40 is it has a silcon base. Which hardens steel. Never understood the using brake clean or gum cutter but it works. And it take more than just brake clean burning to make mustard gas.
