My engine was just freshened up last year it has had 2 runs on it I haven't had it get hot yet but underneath you can hear a ticking from the bottom of the front of motor and rear. It doesn't speed up whith higher rpms. There is no metal in oil. I use brad penn straight 50 oil in it it's a full roller motor. Anybody got any ideas?

Check sparkplugs, and check for manifold leaks.

We had one where the windage tray tack welds popped loose and it was ticking on the pan. Motor was all good.

Check your firing order and timing. Sounds stupid, but a crossed plug wire will cause a ticking from spark knock.

The part that bugs me is it doesn't change with rpm. At least that how I read the first post. Had a small engine in here a few years ago couldn't figure out for a while, the noise went away with the plug pulled on the cylinder. Came back when reconnected. The wrist pin bore in the piston was worn enough to cause a ticking noise, thought at first it was a lifter. But that changed with rpm.

It's driving me crazy whatever it is all I want to do is get one more run out of it. I'd like to reuse the heads on my new engine I'm just scared of damaging them
