I'd say build what you're comfortable with think never seems to be repeated year to year on what wins

for me its a toss up between the caddy and the 80's gm. but definitely don't bother with the y framer. you need pretty loose rules and tons of time to make a y framer worth the effort.

I disagree about the Y framer. I think they only take certain a arm forward and body mount rules (as in, mostly stock body mounts) for them to shine. Welding and plating a arm forward, top and bottom take care of their biggest weakness, where as if the rules get looser, other cars begin to benefit more.. that being said they wouldn't be my first pick for these rules

This crossmember is only welded to the outside frame rails under the doors as that's all our rules allow. However it has obviously came in contact with the inside frame section. Can you tell me what kind of ball joints you have there? Just curious . Thanks.

Thats nascar balljoints. That was just a mock up. I ream the hole to for the weld on ring to adjust the angle. Anger Management sells them.

I think for those the pinch framer would shine. They are small and agile and with firewall forward welding they really shine. You put your cage where it needs to be and fix the floor and they will be able to nose all night long.

At this point, agreed on go with what your most comfortable with. Kind of a bravo from me as well to the promotor, really made alot of cars equal.
I know you said you have ran midsize and this is your first old iron, pinch framer is somewhat similair in a way, so that may add to your comfort level. Caddys I dont think are that great of a first time old iron car, as the learning curve is pretty steep.

I'd go with a 92-97 crown vic. That set of rules builds a pretty good bubble Ford.I might go with a different car if its a big track, but on smaller tracks the vics are very maneuverable. Unless imperials are legal- then run one of them

If it is Obession with Destruction, go with a sub frame Imp or a Y framer with an Imp sub.

Thanks for the input everyone really appreciate it. Probably will end up doing a 75-76 caddy if I can find a decent one in the next few months. I have a few guys that are pretty knowledgeable on caddys that would help me and give me some tips on them.
