Thinking of investing in a carb for my 318s and 360s. All motors are stock. Current factory carb likes to stall after hits. Looking for a carb that is easy to maintain and tune. Also one that won't stall after hits or tips on how to stop that from happening. It's quite annoying.

I run bbm 400s and gm 350 with holley 4412-74 jets, 50cc accel pumps-my favorite. I also use 2gs stock and they do well and I have one factory installed holley 2bbl on a 400 that does well but they can all die when you make a hit if fuel spills out the overflow tube so-get a piece of brakeline tube about 4" long that fits snuggly down the tube and that'll stop the slosh. Some people also set the float slightly lower so the fuel level is lower so less apt to slosh.

I use edelbrock 600's on all my small blocks and sometimes 750 edelbrocks on my big blocks. also use carter AFB's on both (same thing just older, claimed to be 625) the edelbrock/carter afb are what i call the george foreman of carburetors, "set it and forget it" they have given me nothing but positive results.

Edelbrock Performer 600 for all 4 bbl manifolds, Holley 4412 for all 2 bbl manifolds. Plus the necessary aluminum adapters. Any (V8) engine, problem solved, case closed.

Holley 4412 is super easy to set and maintain.

Run the 350 cfm Holley and do the fuel slosh trick repair.. I believe it is also a 4412 in a 350 cfm form instead of the 500 which is big brother to the 350 cfm.. this would be for 318 only.. run the 500 on 360's....peace

Can you explain a little bit more on the "fuel slosh trick repair"? I just put a 4412 on a mild 318 with 360 heads and seems to run perfect.

I've got a 4412 on my mild 318, and my uncle has 2 SBC 305's both with 4412s, one carb is mine though. I'm in the process of rebuilding another 4412 and putting it on my 318 magnum. Either that or a quadrajet, haven't decided yet. I won't run any other 2bbl than a 4412. To put it simply, they're the Ford 9" of carburetors. It takes no time (2 beers total) to rebuild one, not counting a good, overnight soak.
