MEDINA COUNTY FAIR MONDAY NIGHT DEMOLITION DERBY RULES AND CLASSES AUGUST 1, 2016
*****DRIVER’S ENTRY***** 1. Each Driver must be a licensed driver of at least 16 years of age and (1) Fill out and sign entry form and (2) Sign a waiver of Liability. The Medina County Fair Board reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries. 2. Entry deadlines are JULY 20, 2016 AT 4:00 P.M. Mail entries must be postmarked by July 14, 2016. A $35 entry fee must accompany entry form. (Make checks payable to Medina County Fair). If entries are made after July 20, 2016, the entry fee is $50. 3. Each entrant will receive one (1) Wristband. They must be put on as you enter through the gate. Broken wrist bands will be replaced one for one. Deputies will be patrolling the infield (pit) area and anyone not wearing a wristband will be removed from the pit area. All other people entering the pits will be required to purchase a wrist band prior to entry in the pits. 4. ALL drivers must supply their own car and have proof of ownership (Title or Bill of Sale) at time of inspection. (NO PROOF OF OWNERSHIP, NO RUN). 5. One entry per class per driver. 6. NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR CONSUMPTION OF ANY IMPAIRING SUBSTANCE ON TRACK AND/OR INFIELD. THE MEDINA COUNTY FAIR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEARCH ANY VEHICLE ENTERING THE INFIELD. 7. Any driver not obeying rules will be disqualified. 8. Demolition Derbies are hazardous and a high risk sport. Neither the Fairboard nor Track Officials are responsible for any injuries sustained by driver or pit crew before, during or after the event. 9. Once on the track, drivers are to answer to the Presiding Track Official or Officials. 10. Inspection of the cars will start at 2:00pm the day of the Demo Derby and will END at 6:00 p.m. We will have out of county inspectors doing inspection in an INSPECTION AREA where only authorized people are allowed. All cars that pass inspection will be given a “stick” and put in their heat line. No vehicles other than derby cars are permitted in the same area as the heat lines. 11. ANY CAR NOT HAULED OFF THE FAIR GROUNDS BY 12:00 NOON, THE DAY AFTER THE RESPECTIVE DERBY, WILL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE MEDINA COUNTY FAIR. THE DRIVER WILL BE SUSPENDED FROM ALL DERBIES AT THE MEDINA COUNTY FAIR FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR.
SAFETY(applies to all classes) Remove ALL glass, fiberglass, headlights, taillights, trim, interior, trailer hitches, etc. Vehicles must be swept clean. No junk tires, wheels, metal parts, etc. allowed. All rear seats and flooring decking must be removed. Any sharp or protruding fins must be cut off the vehicle. Standard safety belts, Z-90 approved helmet, and eye protection (face shield or safety glasses) are required. Neck braces highly recommended. Long sleeve shirts and pants are required. No shorts or shirtless drivers will be permitted. Exhaust (either zoomies or headers) must point away from fuel lines and headers must be straight in the air. All hoods must have a square hole directly cut above the carb. All hood and deck lid hinge springs must be removed. Firewalls may not be totally removed. If holes are cut for clearance purposes, the holes must be covered by something fireproof. If patched with metal, the metal must not be thicker than 16 gauge. No spray devices or cans permitted in the vehicle. All vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times. Stock gas tanks must be removed from the original position. A replacement tank must be securely fastened in the rear section (no farther forward than the back of the front seat) of the drivers compartment. Steel gas tanks are required. No original tanks permitted. Gas tank must be securely fastened by means other than ratchet straps or wire. Tanks must be securely bolted to the floor. Tanks must be covered in a fireproof fashion. Any vehicle that spills gas will be disqualified immediately. Driver’s door must be painted white. You may choose your own car number and paint it on the car ahead of time. Roof signs are encouraged. Electric fuel pumps are permitted, but the switch must be CLEARLY marked ON/OFF. Stock batteries must be removed from the original position. A battery must located in the driver’s compartment and securely fastened to the floor. The battery must be covered. No use of alcohol or drugs on the track or pit area. Any driver or pit crew member under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be immediately disqualified. COOLERS WILL BE INSPECTED. No profanity will be permitted on any vehicle. 80’s AND NEWER NO PROTECTOR CLASS RULES: A. ENGINE: 1. Full engine cradles, distributor protectors, header protectors, carburetor protectors, front/mid engine plates, etc are NOT permitted. 2. A lower engine cradle is permitted for mounting purposes only. May not reinforce or strengthen the car in any way. NO Pulley Protectors. 3. Engine swaps are permitted (Ford to GM, GM to Chrysler, etc). Engines must be mounted to the factory K-member/cradle only. Aftermarket engine mounts WILL be permitted. 4. Stacks/Headers will be permitted. You may bypass electrical components with mechanical. 5. May weld, wire, bolt or chain the engine mounts to the K-member only. Chains may not be attached to frame rails.
B. TRANSMISSON: 1. Aftermarket shifters and transmission coolers ARE permitted. Cooler boxes and fans must be bolted to body or cage only. Cooler lines and cooler must be covered or protected to protect driver from rupture. 2. Slider shafts, telescoping driveshafts are NOT permitted. 3. Transmission protectors, transmission braces, aftermarket bellhousings and tailshafts are NOT permitted. 4. Maximum 2”x 2” transmission cross member or stock cross member. A mounting bracket can be welded to frame, not to exceed 6-in. maximum length. C. REAR-END: 1. Any factory 5-lug automotive/passenger car rear-end housing is permitted. Pinion brakes ARE permitted. Internals may be welded or upgraded, but you may NOT reinforce the rearend housing. 2. Rear-end braces, aftermarket axle tubes/housings, axle protectors or any other housing reinforcement is NOT permitted. 3. ZTR brackets ARE permitted. Trailing arms may re-enforced or 2x2 tubing.
D. FRAME & SUSPENSION: 1. MUST BE 100% STOCK. Tilting, cold bending, reshaping of any frame is NOT permitted. 2. Aftermarket steering columns ARE permitted. Aftermarket or reinforced tie rods are NOT permitted, must be factory 80’s and newer CAR components. 3. 2003 and newer fords are permitted, but must have factory front a-arms, aluminum cradle and steering/tie rod components. The aluminum spindles may be changed to another 80’s and newer spindle. 4. Front suspension may be solid. If welded, a maximum 2”x2”x1/4” plate is permitted on front and rear of upper A-arms. Two per side. Bottom A-arms may NOT be welded in any way. 5. Must run factory front suspension components. No aftermarket or reinforced ball joints, a-arms or spindles. 6. You may cut/notch/dimple the rear frame rails to help roll. Notched areas may NOT be rewelded. 7. Frames may be squared off to mount bumper. Frames may NOT be shortened past original front core support mount on front. (Lincoln/Mercury frames may be shortened to same length as Crown Victoria frames. No shortening of the rear frame rails. 8. Rear suspension may NOT be solid. No all-thread shocks. Must have bounce. Coils spring swap and/or coil spacers permitted. A chain around rearend to frame may be used to set rear bumper height. 9. Hump plates are NOT permitted. A chain may be attached between the humps to prevent rear frame rails from hitting tires. 10. Rear bumper & frame height must be at least 15-in. 11. Front sway bars may only be attached using the factory brackets/mounts. No welding permitted. 12. Leaf sprung cars must have factory/original leaf pack. No inverting of leaf springs or stiffeners. May have a total of (2) clamps per side. Maximum clamp size is 2-inch in length and ¼- inch thickness.
E. BODY: 1. MUST REMAIN STOCK. The quarter panels may be pinged/ creased/hammered. 2. Body bolts may be replaced with maximum ½” bolts and 3-in. washer on top of body. Bolted to top of frame rail only. A standard washer may be welded to the frame at body mount locations. 3. Factory rubber body mounts, hockey pucks or similar rubber material must be used at each body mount location, INCLUDING core support. Steel spacers are NOT permitted. 4. Doors may be bolted, chained, wired or welded in (6) locations per door. If welded, plates to be a maximum of 4”x4”x1/4”. Only the driver’s door may be fully welded/reinforced, may not extend more than 3-in. past driver’s door seams. 5. Trunk may be bolted, chained, wired or welded in (10) locations. If welded, plates are to be a maximum of 4”x4”x1/4”. Trunk must be located in original position. No V-ing, tucking, folding or wedging of the trunk deck or quarter-panels. Quarter panels must remain at stock height. An 8”x8” inspection hole must be cut in the trunk deck. 6. The hood must be wired, chained or bolted. May be secured in six [6] locations. Two locations may go through the core support mount to the frame. Maximum 5/8” all thread and 3-in. washer. No other metal may be added or welded onto, inside or across the core support. 7. No inner body seam welding for any reason. Only the top of the driver’s door panel may be welded. 8. Must have a front window bar, chain, wire to prevent hood from entering driver’s compartment. Can only be attached to top of fire wall and 6-in. on the roof. Maximum 2”x2” material. 9. May have a rear window bar, chain, or wire. May only be attached to roof and speaker deck and 6-in. on the roof. Maximum 2”x2” material. 10. Large holes in the fire wall should be covered.
F. DRIVERS COMPARTMENT: 1. May have a 4 point cage around driver’s compartment for safety. Maximum material dimension is 3”x3”or 4”x2” pipe, tube, channel, etc. One bar may be located behind the driver’s seat, across dash, and two connecting bars along driver and passenger doors. 2. Large holes in the fire wall should be covered for driver protection. 3. The bar behind the seat and side bars can sit no further back than 6” past the front door seam. 4. A roll over bar is permitted. May NOT be attached to frame or floor. 5. The cage bars may be attached to the sheet metal only with a maximum 6”x6”x1/4” plate. Cage may NOT be attached to frame or floor. If the cage bars are not welded securely, they must be removed in order to participate. This is a safety concern. 6. A gas tank “HOLDER” is permitted. Holders may be attached to the floor OR cage. If attached to the cage, the holder may be up to 24-in. wide and must be 5-in. away from ALL sheet metal on ALL car. This rule will be strictly enforced. IF LESS THAN 5-IN. GAP, THE HOLDER MUST BE REMOVED TO RUN. This rule is to protect the fuel tank, not to prevent the rear of the car from rolling. 7. Floor mounted brake pedals and gas pedals ARE permitted. G. ELECTRICAL & BATTERY: 1. One (1) automotive type battery may be used. 2. Must be securely fastened & covered BEFORE inspection. 3. Battery may be relocated into the driver’s compartment. All other electrical parts must remain under hood, in front of firewall.
H. GAS TANK: 1. PLASTIC TANKS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. 2. All stock gas tanks MUST be removed from car. 3. A metal gas can, boat tank, propane tank, fuel cell, etc may be used. Must be located in the back seat area. All gas tanks must be vented to outside of vehicle. Electric fuel pump may be used, must have on & off switch clearly marked on the dash. 4. ALL FUEL TANKS MUST BE SECURELY FASTENED AND COVERED BEFORE INSPECTION.
I. TIRES/WHEELS: 1. Any air filled tire permitted. Solid or foam filled tires will NOT be permitted. Wheel weights must be removed before inspection. Doubled tires are permitted. 2. No deep lug tractor treads (V-treads), due to safety concerns. 3. Stock automotive wheels only. Full wheel centers, wheel protectors, bead protectors, bead locks are NOT permitted. Small, multi-lug wheel centers are permitted. J. BUMPER: DO NOT PUSH THIS RULE, UNLESS YOU WANT TO RUN WITHOUT BUMPERS! 1. Any 1980’s and newer factory bumper may be used on front & rear. Front & rear bumpers may be welded or bolted. If welded, it must be performed in one of the following two methods. Option 1: Bumper may be welded directly to frame. Hardnosed. A 6”x6”x1/4” plate may be used between bumper and frame, to attach bumper. NO bumper shocks/brackets may be used in this method. Option 2: Bumper may be welded to bumper shock that is factory to THAT car. Bumper shock may be welded to prevent separating. Bumper shock must be located in the factory position. No collapsing or sliding the bumper shock further into the frame. No plug welding of the bumper shock. 2. Must be able to see into the end of the bumper or the end of bumpers must be cut off. 3. NO seam welding or other modifications to the bumper or bumper shocks will be permitted.
K. FIX-IT-PLATES: 1. Fix-it-plates will be allowed on pre-ran cars only. Must have visible and significant damage. (A small dimple or bubble does NOT warrant a fix-it-plate. This is for significant damage only). 2. May have (2) fix-it-plates per side. Plates to be no larger than 4”x4”x1/8”. 3. May be welded on 3-sides only. 4. Any fix-it-plates larger in size or thickness will be cut off COMPLETELY to run. If you abuse this rule, you lose it. Any questions, CALL FIRST. 5. Pulling the front end back down after it has bent up is permitted. Must be pulled down back to factory location. BE CAREFUL! If pulled down to far, it will be considered cold bent or tilted and will NOT be able to run. **This class will be run in heats, there will be one consolation round and then the Feature. COMPACT CARS/COMPACT TRUCK RULES: ENGINE/TRANSMISSION Welded solid or chained down engine mounts are recommended. Fabricated engine mounts must not strengthen the car in any manner. Engine cradles are permitted, but must fit tightly to engine and not reinforce the car in any manner. Radiators must remain in the stock location. Overflow hoses must point straight down. No anti-freeze permitted, strictly water. Bottom radiator support may be fabricated, but may not be welded to the frame. All fabrications must be welded to the existing core support structure. Maximum angle size is 3”x3”x¼”. Transmission coolers may be relocated to the driver’s compartment. If so, they must be securely fastened inside another durable and vented container (box). If ice is to be used, the container must be leak proof with a secured lid. If competition is continually stopped to determine if gas or water is leaking from your car, you will be disqualified. Steel or hydraulic lines are required. Distributor protectors will be permitted. They may not touch or attach to the cage in any manner. The maximum width is 12”. HOOD/FRONT CLIP All vehicles must have a hood in place and operable. Hoods may be bolted or wired in six locations. Four of the six locations may use hood bolts. The bolts must attach to the core support or fenders only (not to the frame). Therefore, body mount bolts may not be extended to also use to bolt hood. 4”x4”x¼” plates may be attached to core support/fenders to mount the hood bolts. Wire may be used from core support/fenders to the bumper or from sheet metal to sheet metal. Hoods must cover fans. Two strands of wire may run to bumper or frame. Front fenders may be trimmed or folded under and bolted with two 3/8” bolts or welded. No additional metal permitted. Front inner and outer fender may be rolled and/or welded or bolted together directly over the wheel. No additional metal permitted. Washers may be welded onto sheet metal, core support, and bumper for wiring. Maximum outside diameter of washer is 3”. No welding of seams, sheet metal to frame, sheet metal to core support, or core support to frame. Square hole over the engine may be bolted with two 3/8” bolts per side (8 total bolts) or may have the inner webbing and outer skin welded together. DOORS Doors must be fastened shut by wire, chain, or welded. No loose doors permitted. If welded, use steel no wider than 3” and no thicker than ¼”. If steel is thicker or wider, it will be cut completely off to run. Strapping may not be attached to the frame in any manner. Doors may be welded all the way around. If wired or chained, use enough to securely and safely fasten the door. No wiring or chaining to the frame. A protection plate may be welded over the original driver’s door skin. It may not be thicker than ¼” and must remain within the boundaries of below the window, behind the clip/door seam, in front of the front/back door seam, above the bottom of the driver’s door. Welding of doors on the inside of the vehicle is permitted. No metal may be added to weld. TRUNK/TAILGATE Deck lids and tailgates may be wired in six locations. Trunks and tailgates may be welded. 40” total may NOT be welded to the bumper. Two strands of wire may be used in each location. Locations may be from sheet metal to sheet metal or from sheet metal to bumper or frame. ONLY TWO LOCATIONS CAN GO TO FRAME OR BUMPER. Washers may be welded onto the sheet metal and bumper for wiring. Maximum outside diameter of washers is 3”. Trunks must have a 12” by 12” hole cut if welded. Inner and outside rear wheel wells may be rolled and or welded or bolted together with 4 bolts maximum bolt size 3/8”. Deck lid webbing and outer skin may be welded or bolted together with (8) 3/8” bolts. No additional metal permitted. Body rust may be patched. Metal may not be thicker than 16 gauge. Original metal from rusted area must be completely removed. The overlap of new and old metal must not exceed 2”. Official’s discretion on abuse. Rear quarter panels cannot be smashed down. BODY Body mount rubbers may be removed. If they are removed, a ½” spacer must be replaced (not to exceed 3” in diameter) between body and frame. Spacer may not be welded to the body or the frame in any manner. Replacement body bolts may be used. Maximum bolt size is 5/8”. Washers not to exceed 3” in diameter or standard thickness (¼”). If bolts are changed, a ½” spacer must be replaced between body and frame. No extra body mounts permitted. Body bolts may not travel through both sides of the frame. Body must be to the top of the frame. No welding of interior or exterior body seams. Floorboard rust may be patched. Metal may not be thicker than 1/16”. The overlap of new and old metal must not exceed 2”. Original floorboards may remain. Official’s discretion on abuse. One location of wire or rod must be placed from front cowl to the front of the roof to prevent hood entry into the driver’s compartment. One location of wire or flat bar no more than 3” may be placed from rear cowl to back of the roof as well. Do not abuse. FRAME No seam welding of frame will be permitted. No undercoating or painting of the frame will be permitted. Your vehicle will be inspected! Cars may be re-stubbed if a stock OEM replacement is used and it is ONLY butt-welded. No metal may be added. No overlap will be accepted. Welds may not be ground. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Two locations of wire (9-gauge maximum) may travel from a cage bar or roof to any body mount bolt or directly to the frame between the firewall and rear axle ONLY. Wire must be in a safe location(our call). Frames may be notched and re-welded in the three spots from rear hump to back bumper. Absolutely no wider weld than ¼ inch. Frames may be notched and re-welded from in front of rear humps to front bumper. Absolutely no wider weld than ¼ inch. Rule 5 & 6 will be strictly reinforced any wider welds your vehicle will be disqualified. Absolutely no metal can be added! If frame is visually bent, a ¼”x 4” x 4” plate may be welded over bent spot. No more than four separate spots. Plates cannot touch each other! One plate per bent spot.If abusedplate will be cut off!!!! Shortening of front frame permitted. However if it is shortened past the core support mounting location, No bumper shocks or bumper brackets can be used. You may only use a plate between bumper and frame 6”x6”x¼” thick max. You may weld a 4”x4”x¼” thick plate frame to attach core support. Cannot be no more than 1” on frame and no gussets can be used. No welding core support spacer or core support to frame. Hump plates will be allowed, no wider than 3” and no thicker than ¼” plate. Must follow contour of hump and must stop at horizontal sections of frame. On 2003 and newer Fords you may use an 80’s and newer Ford steel cradle. They must be put in like there factory counterparts only using the factory brackets. No other metal may be used. They must be in factory location and cannot be moved forward. A-arm must be in factory location, no moving them forward. You may use a spring pocket off an older model. NO MORE THE 3-3” WELDS ON SPRING POCKET. You may not alter frame in any matter other than attaching factory brackets and steel cradle. All components must only have a single bead of weld. All factory holes must be open. CAGE Drivers may install a four bar safety cage in their vehicles. Cage material may not exceed 5” in diameter. Cages must be welded to body only (not to the floor). One bar may be put across the dash area (above the steering column) and another behind the driver’s seat. These bars may be attached to the body with two plates(not to exceed 7” wide and ¼” thick). These bars must run horizontally across the car. One bar may be put along the inside of both the driver’s and passenger’s door. No bars may not extend forward past the dash and have a maximum length of 60”. Rollover bars may attach to the bar behind the seat and not the floor. Must run straight across the roof from side to side. Can be spot welded in six spots no more than 2 inches long or bolted no more than four spots bolt size 3/8”. No kickers of any type will be permitted. BUMPERS No special bumpers, bumper reinforcements, or bumper fabrications are permitted. OEM to OEM bumper swaps can be made (Chrysler to GM, GM to Ford, etc.). Bumper brackets may be welded to the frame (includes Chevy can swap). Bumper shocks may be collapsed. They may be welded and or chained. Bumpers may be welded to brackets or shocks. Bumper may be hard nosed (welded directly to the frame). No metal may be added to do so. May not be welded to front clip. Bumper seams may be welded. Bumper ends may wrapped or trimmed. All bumper straps must be mounted in a stock type fashion. For instance, Chevy horns may be welded onto other cars, but must be mounted in the same manner ( as welded on Chevy’s). No folding and welding of bumpers straps, swapping left for right straps, using rear straps as front straps, laying side mounted straps on top of the frame, etc. will be permitted. We will not NEGOTIATE. Front bumper height 22 inches max to bottom of bumper. Rear bumper must be at least 16 inches from the ground. Any OEM bumper may be used. Bumpers may be seamed and welded and may be reinforced on inside only. REAR END/TIRES Any car or truck rear end will be permitted (maximum 8 lugs). No liquid filled or studded tires. No screws in rims. No split rims. 16.5” maximum tire size. FRONT SUSPENSION A-arms may be bolted solid or welded to achieve desired bumper height. If welded, you may use2 “x2”X1/4” straps to tie the upper a-arm or an a-arm and the frame together. The use of these straps to strengthen the frame is not permitted. REAR SUSPENSION Coil springs may be swapped and welded in. No leaf spring conversions. Stock leafed cars must run stock leafs, mounted in stock locations, with stock hangers. If broken springs need replaced, factory step down and thickness are required. No custom made leaf packs, leafs over mains, inverted springs permitted. Any questions and you will not participate. Five spring clamps are permitted on each leaf pack using no thicker than ¼” and no wider than 2” steel. No welding or bolting of leaf springs or clamps to the body or frame. No duct taping or welding of springs together. POST COMPETITION INSPECTION AND AWARDS All drivers qualifying “in the money” will have his/her car re-inspected prior to receiving any earned money. To protest a particular vehicle, a $200 protest fee must be personally presented to the head track official by a driver that participated in the event. The protesting driver must state where he/she believes the accused car has violated the rules. If legitimate evidence is found, the accused car will be disqualified and forfeit all earned money. The protesting driver will receive a full refund of the protesting fee. The next appropriate vehicle will be re-inspected and receive the appropriate forfeited prize money. If no legitimate evidence is found, the protesting driver forfeits the $200 protest fee. Cars may scoped and drilled prior to and or following our events. We want to present a fair show for all competitors. COMPACT CARS RULES (in addition to the above rules for compact cars/compact trucks) Compacts: 108” maximum standard wheel base center to center, no alterations. Four point cage may not extend past the dash bar or more than 18” behind the driver’s seat. Maximum of a 5 lug rear end. Bumper straps may be used to securely fasten a bumper on either end of the car. No homemade brackets. Front bumper brackets if they're not stock to the car they're on, they can not be any longer than 10" if you run a bumper shock inside of frame it can only be 10" long and must have a inspection hole to verify where it stops! You can not have bracket on the side of frame and a shock bracket inside of frame! YOUTH COMPACT CAR RULES: This class is for the kids AGES 11-16 W/O DRIVERS LICENSE to let them learn how to strip cars out, build a car to the rules and be a good sport when they win or lose. Proof of age IS REQUIRED. Upon arrival a notarized parental consent form must be filled out or you will not be allowed to participate. One parent must be present with valid I.D. A notary will be present to notarize the entry forms. A PARENT OR ADULT MUST RIDE WITH THE DRIVER. This is for instructional purposes as well as a possible emergency situation. Participation Rules BUILDING - All cars must remain stock unless specified in these rules. All cars must be factory front wheel drive, 4 or 6 cylinder engine and wheelbase must not exceed 109". INTERIOR – Interior must be stripped 100%. All carpeting, interior molding, rear seats, headliners, inner door panels and any other flammable material must be removed. Passenger seat must be left in and dash left in. Airbags must be removed. Both Seat belts must remain in place. Vehicles MUST be swept free of all debris. BATTERY - Must be mounted inside the car, all parts of the battery must be covered with a non flammable material. KEY START RECOMMENDED. WELDING - One bar behind seat IS MANDATORY; 12 x 12 inner door plates and No larger than 6" diameter pipe. A roll over bar strongly advised. A 4 point type safety cage can be placed in the driver’s compartment. Bars may not attach to the floor or the frame in any way. FUEL TANKS - Tanks must be made of steel a 4 point hold down bolted to floor with a minimum of a 2" washer on the underside of car. All hoses must be double clamped at all connections. Electric fuel pumps must be operated by a switch that the passenger can shut off in case of a fire. EXTERIOR – All plastics, lights, trim moldings, wheel weights, foam bumpers and door handles must be removed. NO TUCKING OR WEDGING. WINDSHIELD - Must be removed. Must have 2 places of #9 wire, banding, strapping or chain in windshield area to protect driver/passenger. Mount this from roof to the cowl panel. It must not be attached to the hood. HOODS - Can be secured in 6 places. 2 strand #9 banding or chain. DOORS - WELD outside only with 3"wide x 1/4 thick strapping. Both outside front doors can be reinforced 6 inches past the door seams. TRUNKS – Can have a max of 45" of 3"wide x 1/4 thick strapping welded to the factory trunk seam area so 15" on top of trunk lid and 15" around the trunk/bumper area. NO TUCKING/WEDGING ALLOWED. BUMPERS - Can be from any compact car, or 80 and newer car. They must be bolted on at the factory location; ½” bolts, 2" washers max size. You can wire your bumpers to the trunk lid in 2 places and the radiator support in 2 places with #9 wire.
THERE CAN BE 12 " OF WELD ON EACH BUMPER. THIS MEANS ON THE MOUNTING AREA YOU CAN HAVE A 3" LONG BEAD OF WELD IN 4 SELECTED LOCATIONS. TIRES – Tractor treads allowed. No studded tires on the front. You can glue, screw, double and stem protection is allowed. Remove all wheel weights. SUSPENSION - FACTORY SUSPENSION ONLY! Coil springs may be wired or welded in place. It is permitted to weld a 2” plate from bottom of A-arm to frame to raise front suspension. MUST NOT STRENGTHEN FRAME IN ANY WAY. POWER WHEELS RULES This class is for the kids AGES 4-7. Bring Birth Certificate in case of a challenge of age. Upon arrival a notarized parent and/ or legal guardian consent form must be filled out or you will not be allowed to participate. This is a Fun Class to get small kids their first taste, of a Derby, any Power wheels that are too fast or heavy will not be allowed to run. This is for the Kids to have Fun! 1. Derby entry fee is $10.00 2. Power Wheels for Kids 4 years old and up to 7 years old. 3. Stock, Electric, Regular Size, Power Wheels with up to a 12 volt lawn mower battery. Battery can not be mounted in the passenger seat. 4. Helmets must be worn. 5. All doors, hoods, and tailgates must be strapped shut. 6. Use zip ties or duct tape to fasten shut doors, hood, and trunk. No sharp or protruding edges. Track official and or inspectors decisions are final.

MEDINA COUNTY FAIR FRIDAY NIGHT DEMOLITION DERBY RULES AND CLASSES AUGUST 5, 2016
*****DRIVER’S ENTRY***** 1. Each Driver must be a licensed driver of at least 16 years of age and (1) Fill out and sign entry form and (2) Sign a waiver of Liability. The Medina County Fair Board reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries. 2. Entry deadlines are JULY 20, 2016 AT 4:00 P.M. Mail entries must be postmarked by July 14, 2016. A $35 entry fee must accompany entry form. (Make checks payable to Medina County Fair). If entries are made after July 20, 2016, the entry fee is $50. 3. Each entrant will receive one (1) Wristband. They must be put on as you enter through the gate. Broken wrist bands will be replaced one for one. Deputies will be patrolling the infield (pit) area and anyone not wearing a wristband will be removed from the pit area. All other people entering the pits will be required to purchase a wrist band prior to entry in the pits. 4. ALL drivers must supply their own car and have proof of ownership (Title or Bill of Sale) at time of inspection. (NO PROOF OF OWNERSHIP, NO RUN). 5. One entry per class per driver. 6. NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR CONSUMPTION OF ANY IMPAIRING SUBSTANCE ON TRACK AND/OR INFIELD. THE MEDINA COUNTY FAIR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEARCH ANY VEHICLE ENTERING THE INFIELD. 7. Any driver not obeying rules will be disqualified. 8. Demolition Derbies are hazardous and a high risk sport. Neither the Fairboard nor Track Officials are responsible for any injuries sustained by driver or pit crew before, during or after the event. 9. Once on the track, drivers are to answer to the Presiding Track Official or Officials. 10. Inspection of the cars will start at 2:00pm the day of the Demo Derby and will END at 6:00 p.m. We will have out of county inspectors doing inspection in an INSPECTION AREA where only authorized people are allowed. All cars that pass inspection will be given a “stick” and put in their heat line. No vehicles other than derby cars are permitted in the same area as the heat lines. 11. ANY CAR NOT HAULED OFF THE FAIR GROUNDS BY 12:00 NOON, THE DAY AFTER THE RESPECTIVE DERBY, WILL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE MEDINA COUNTY FAIR. THE DRIVER WILL BE SUSPENDED FROM ALL DERBIES AT THE MEDINA COUNTY FAIR FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR. SAFETY Remove ALL glass, fiberglass, headlights, taillights, trim, interior, trailer hitches, etc. Vehicles must be swept clean. No junk tires, wheels, metal parts, etc. allowed. All rear seats and flooring decking must be removed. Any sharp or protruding fins must be cut off the vehicle. Standard safety belts, Z-90 approved helmet, and eye protection (face shield or safety glasses) are required. Neck braces highly recommended. Long sleeve shirts and pants are REQUIRED. No shorts or shirtless drivers will be permitted. Exhaust (either zoomies or headers) must point away from fuel lines and headers must be straight in the air. All hoods must have a square hole directly cut above the carburetor. All hood and deck lid hinge springs must be removed. Firewalls may not be totally removed. If holes are cut for clearance purposes, the holes must be covered by something fireproof. If patched with metal, the metal must not be thicker than 16 gauge. No spray devices or cans permitted in the vehicle. All vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times. Stock gas tanks must be removed from the original position. A replacement tank must be securely fastened in the rear section (no farther forward than the back of the front seat) of the drivers compartment. Only steel gas tanks may be used. No original tanks permitted. Gas tank must be securely fastened by means other than ratchet straps or wire. Tanks must be securely bolted to the floor. Tanks must be covered in a fireproof fashion. Any vehicle that spills gas will be disqualified immediately. Electric fuel pumps are permitted, but the switch must be CLEARLY marked ON/OFF. Stock batteries must be removed from the original position. A battery must located in the driver’s compartment and securely fastened to the floor. The battery must be covered. Driver’s door must be painted white. You may choose your own car number and paint it on the car ahead of time. Roof signs are encouraged. No use of alcohol or drugs on the track or pit area. Any driver or pit crew member under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be immediately disqualified. COOLERS WILL BE INSPECTED. No profanity will be permitted on any vehicle. OLD IRON RULES: Any STOCK, American made hardtop automobile or station wagon of any year is allowed. No limousines, hearses, ambulances, convertibles, truck chassis, van, jeeps, four wheelers, checkers, or Imperials before 1967 allowed. Drivers must wear a crash helmet with shield or eye protection (full face helmet is recommended), long pants and long sleeve shirt. Seat belts are required, shoulder harness is optional. Driver will not extend any part of his/or her body outside of the car at any time while the car is on the track. Cars must be clean. Wheel balance weights must be removed. All glass including head and tail lights MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE ENTERING THE TRACK INFIELD, as well as ALL CHROME TRIM Door handle, locks, window trim ETC. The windshield may be left in place. GLASS MUST BE REMOVED FROM INSIDE OF THE CAR AND DOORS. Trunk and inside must be empty and no weight of any kind may be added. Example: No junk tires, wheels, metal parts, glass, etc. (PLEASE DO NOT DUMP PARTS ON INFIELD) No Profanity painted on the cars. Driver’s door must be painted white. You may choose your own car number and paint it on the car ahead of time. Roof signs are encouraged. Gas tanks must be constructed of heavy gauge steel, such as Freon bottles, or heavy gauge pipe. We will not honor GI cans, lawn mower gas cans, or boat tanks, or anything else along this line for a tank. A maximum of five (5) gallons of gas will be allowed. ALL TANKS will have steel straps around or brackets WELDED to the tank, which will be SECURED TO THE FLOOR. We will not accept rope, wire, or any type of rubber tie downs. All tanks will be secured to the floor behind the driver’s seat, in the rear seat area. It will be as close to the center of the car as possible and not any further back than the back of where the original seat was mounted. This includes Station Wagons. NO gas tank protectors. Also the GAS LINE (if kept in driver’s compartment) MUST BE RUN THROUGH A LARGER HOSE OR PIPE. IF the line is run under the car, no protection is required. Also, the tanks will be covered with floor material or of similar material. Electric fuel pump may be used, must have on and off switch to be marked in red to indicate cut-off switch. Bumpers must stay STOCK by manufacture and bolted, no reinforcements will be allowed. FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS WILL NOT BE CUT OR ALTERED WHAT SO EVER. (Like welding bumper shocks). No trailer hitches will be permitted. Drivers compartment: may have max 3” diameter pipe behind the driver's seat & across the dash. No kickers to the floor or firewall. Driver's door may be reinforced with a door bar. Passenger side may have bar inside driver's compartment. All doors may be welded, exterior only. Maximum 4”x1/4” plate. No welding interior of doors. Doors only, not window frames or pillars. For additional protection of the driver, we suggest filling the Driver’s Door with sand. (NO CONCRETE). Suspension must be STOCK and free of all blocks. Suspension must be free from alteration such as added leaves in leaf springs. NO air shocks, air bags, and coil springs over shocks or welded shocks. Cutting fenders for wheel clearance only is permitted. Hood and Deck lids must be operable for inspection. Wire or bolts may be used to secure hood and trunk lid only. After inspection, you can secure the hood and trunk lid. No more than 6 places per hood and per trunk. NO WIRE ALLOWED ANYWHERE ELSE TO REINFORCE CAR. They must have locks removed and a round hole cut in the center of the hood, not less than 15" in diameter and not more than 20" in diameter, for fire. (NO CHAINS). Trunk lids either on or off – no alterations and no tucking. Stock position or none at all. Two deflection bars made of 1/8"x2" flat bar or heavy gauge pipe (no conduit). It must be bolted (no welding) with at least 3/8" diameter bolts, to the roof and to the firewall area, metal to metal. This is to protect the driver if the hood should enter the car; also, to protect from another car entering through the windshield. NON-COMPLIANCE WILL MEAN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION. STOCK body mounts must be left on cars!!! Cars entering the inspection area without body mounts will be AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED and not allowed to run in the Derby. Cars with rusted body mounts will be allowed to use a round washer no more than three inches in diameter, and retaining bolts no larger than ½ inch in diameter. No hockey pucks will be permitted. Vehicles must have brakes before beginning of the heat. Aftermarket shifters and transmission coolers ARE permitted. Cooler boxes and fans must be bolted to body or cage only. Cooler lines and cooler must be covered or protected to protect driver from rupture. Engine cooling systems may be altered provided they remain under the hood. RADIATOR “TANKS” MAY BE UTILIZED. MUST RESEMBLE STOCK RADIATOR DIMENSIONS – APPROX. 4” THICK BY 30” WIDE BY 20” HIGH. NO ROUND OVAL CYLINDRICAL OR OTHERWISE TYPE TANKS. **MUST MOUNT IN STOCK RADIATOR SUPPORT POSITION WITH STOCK APPEARING BOLTS AND STRAPS. NO MODIFICATIONS TO FRAME OR BODY. RADIATOR PRESSURE RELIEF LINES ARE TO POINT TO THE GROUND AND EXIT BELOW THE CAR. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO ANTIFREEZE IS ALLOWED. First echelon maintenance may be provided between heats. (Example: remove dragging fenders, changing flat tires permissible). All cars will be inspected before the race and winning cars will be re-inspected after the race. Feature cars will be PARKED ON THE TRACK AREA IN FRONT OF THE GRANDSTAND. NO WELDING IS ALLOWED AT ALL. Any tire may be used (with the exception of deep lug tractor tires for safety reasons). Wheel weights must be removed BEFORE inspection. Valve stem protectors may be used. Studded tires are not allowed. Once a car is inspected and passes inspection, it will be placed in line up according to its number on the south end of the infield. NO FLASHING BEACONS DURING RACE ITSELF. One standard automotive battery only. No truck or industrial batteries. It must be SECURELY fastened before inspection on passenger side floor. Solenoid, regulator, modules, etc. may be moved, but must remain under the hood and in front of the firewall. Battery must be covered prior to going through inspection. Exhaust pipes coming up through the hood must point straight up. Additional safety regulations and/or rules may be imposed at race time. Any deliberate infraction of the rules will result in the car being scratched from the heat and the driver will be banned from racing for three years. 80’s & NEWER MILD WELD CLASS: A. ENGINE/TRANSMISSION Welded solid or chained down engine mounts are recommended. Fabricated engine mounts must not strengthen the car in any manner. Engine cradles are permitted, but must fit tightly to engine and not reinforce the car in any manner. Radiators must remain in the stock location. Overflow hoses must point straight down. No anti-freeze permitted, strictly water. Bottom radiator support may be fabricated, but may not be welded to the frame. All fabrications must be welded to the existing core support structure. Maximum angle size is 3”x3”x¼”. Transmission coolers may be relocated to the driver’s compartment. If so, they must be securely fastened inside another durable and vented container (box). If ice is to be used, the container must be leak proof with a secured lid. If competition is continually stopped to determine if gas or water is leaking from your car, you will be disqualified. Steel or hydraulic lines are required. Distributor protectors will be permitted. They may not touch or attach to the cage in any manner. The maximum width is 12”. B. HOOD/FRONT CLIP All vehicles must have a hood in place and operable. Hoods may be bolted or wired in six locations. Four of the six locations may use hood bolts. The bolts must attach to the core support or fenders only (not to the frame). Therefore, body mount bolts may not be extended to also use to bolt hood. 4”x4”x¼” plates may be attached to core support/fenders to mount the hood bolts. Wire may be used from core support/fenders to the bumper or from sheet metal to sheet metal. Hoods must cover fans. Two strands of wire may run to bumper or frame. Front fenders may be trimmed or folded under and bolted with two 3/8” bolts or welded. No additional metal permitted. Front inner and outer fender may be rolled and/or welded or bolted together directly over the wheel. No additional metal permitted. Washers may be welded onto sheet metal, core support, and bumper for wiring. Maximum outside diameter of washer is 3”. No welding of seams, sheet metal to frame, sheet metal to core support, or core support to frame. Square hole over the engine may be bolted with two 3/8” bolts per side (8 total bolts) or may have the inner webbing and outer skin welded together. C. DOORS Doors must be fastened shut by wire, chain, or welded. No loose doors permitted. If welded, use steel no wider than 3” and no thicker than ¼”. If steel is thicker or wider, it will be cut completely off to run. Strapping may not be attached to the frame in any manner. Doors may be welded all the way around. If wired or chained, use enough to securely and safely fasten the door. No wiring or chaining to the frame. A protection plate may be welded over the original driver’s door skin. It may not be thicker than ¼” and must remain within the boundaries of below the window, behind the clip/door seam, in front of the front/back door seam, above the bottom of the driver’s door. Welding of doors on the inside of the vehicle is permitted. No metal may be added to weld. D. TRUNK/TAILGATE Deck lids and tailgates may be wired in six locations. Trunks and tailgates may be welded. 40” total may NOT be welded to the bumper. Two strands of wire may be used in each location. Locations may be from sheet metal to sheet metal or from sheet metal to bumper or frame. ONLY TWO LOCATIONS CAN GO TO FRAME OR BUMPER. Washers may be welded onto the sheet metal and bumper for wiring. Maximum outside diameter of washers is 3”. Trunks must have a 12” by 12” hole cut if welded. Inner and outside rear wheel wells may be rolled and or welded or bolted together with 4 bolts maximum bolt size 3/8”. Deck lid webbing and outer skin may be welded or bolted together with (8) 3/8” bolts. No additional metal permitted. Body rust may be patched. Metal may not be thicker than 16 gauge. Original metal from rusted area must be completely removed. The overlap of new and old metal must not exceed 2”. Official’s discretion on abuse. Rear quarter panels cannot be smashed down. E. BODY Body mount rubbers may be removed. If they are removed, a ½” spacer must be replaced (not to exceed 3” in diameter) between body and frame. Spacer may not be welded to the body or the frame in any manner. Replacement body bolts may be used. Maximum bolt size is 5/8”. Washers not to exceed 3” in diameter or standard thickness (¼”). If bolts are changed, a ½” spacer must be replaced between body and frame. No extra body mounts permitted. Body bolts may not travel through both sides of the frame. Body must be to the top of the frame. No welding of interior or exterior body seams. Floorboard rust may be patched. Metal may not be thicker than 1/16”. The overlap of new and old metal must not exceed 2”. Original floorboards may remain. Official’s discretion on abuse. One location of wire or rod must be placed from front cowl to the front of the roof to prevent hood entry into the driver’s compartment. One location of wire or flat bar no more than 3” may be placed from rear cowl to back of the roof as well. Do not abuse. Body CANNOT be welded to frame! F. FRAME No seam welding of frame will be permitted. No undercoating or painting of the frame will be permitted. Your vehicle will be inspected! Cars may be re-stubbed if a stock OEM replacement is used and it is ONLY butt-welded. No metal may be added. No overlap will be accepted. Welds may not be ground. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Two locations of wire (9-gauge maximum) may travel from a cage bar or roof to any body mount bolt or directly to the frame between the firewall and rear axle ONLY. Wire must be in a safe location(our call). Frames may be notched and re-welded in the three spots from rear hump to back bumper. Absolutely no wider weld than ¼ inch. Frames may be notched and re-welded from in front of rear humps to front bumper. Absolutely no wider weld than ¼ inch. Rule 5 & 6 will be strictly reinforced any wider welds your vehicle will be disqualified. Absolutely no metal can be added! If frame is visually bent, a ¼”x 4” x 4” plate may be welded over bent spot. No more than four separate spots. Plates cannot touch each other! One plate per bent spot.If abusedplate will be cut off!!!! Shortening of front frame permitted. However if it is shortened past the core support mounting location, No bumper shocks or bumper brackets can be used. You may only use a plate between bumper and frame 6”x6”x¼” thick max. You may weld a 4”x4”x¼” thick plate frame to attach core support. Cannot be no more than 1” on frame and no gussets can be used. No welding core support spacer or core support to frame. Hump plates will be allowed,no wider than 3” and no thicker than ¼”. plate.Must follow contour of humpand must stop at horizontal sections of frame! On 2003 and newer Fords you may use an 80’s and newer Ford steel cradle. They must be put in like there factory counterparts only using the factory brackets. No other metal may be used. They must be in factory location and cannot be moved forward. A-arm must be in factory location, no moving them forward. You may use a spring pocket off an older model. NO MORE THE 3-3” WELDS ON SPRING POCKET. You may not alter frame in any matter other than attaching factory brackets and steel cradle. All components must only have a single bead of weld. All factory holes must be open. G. CAGE Drivers may install a four bar safety cage in their vehicles. Cage material may not exceed 5” in diameter. Cages must be welded to body only (not to the floor). One bar may be put across the dash area (above the steering column) and another behind the driver’s seat. These bars may be attached to the body with two plates(not to exceed 7” wide and ¼” thick). These bars must run horizontally across the car. One bar may be put along the inside of both the driver’s and passenger’s door. No bars may not extend forward past the dash and have a maximum length of 60”. Rollover bars may attach to the bar behind the seat and not the floor. Must run straight across the roof from side to side. Can be spot welded in six spots no more than 2 inches long or bolted no more than four spots bolt size 3/8”. No kickers of any type will be permitted. H. BUMPERS No special bumpers, bumper reinforcements, or bumper fabrications are permitted. OEM to OEM bumper swaps can be made (Chrysler to GM, GM to Ford, etc.). Bumper brackets may be welded to the frame (includes Chevy can swap). Bumper shocks may be collapsed. They may be welded and or chained. Bumpers may be welded to brackets or shocks. Bumper may be hard nosed (welded directly to the frame). No metal may be added to do so. May not be welded to front clip. Bumper seams may be welded. Bumper ends may wrapped or trimmed. All bumper straps must be mounted in a stock type fashion. For instance, Chevy horns may be welded onto other cars, but must be mounted in the same manner ( as welded on Chevy’s). No folding and welding of bumpers straps, swapping left for right straps, using rear straps as front straps, laying side mounted straps on top of the frame, etc. will be permitted. We will not NEGOTIATE. Front bumper height 22 inches max to bottom of bumper. Rear bumper must be at least 16 inches from the ground. Any OEM bumper may be used. Bumpers may be seamed and welded and may be reinforced on inside only. I. REAR END/TIRES Any car or truck rear end will be permitted (maximum 8 lugs). No liquid filled or studded tires. No screws in rims. No split rims. 16.5” maximum tire size. J. FRONT SUSPENSION A-arms may be bolted solid or welded to achieve desired bumper height. If welded, you may use 2”x2”X1/4” straps to tie the upper a-arm or an a-arm and the frame together. The use of these straps to strengthen the frame is not permitted. K. REAR SUSPENSION Coil springs may be swapped and welded in. No leaf spring conversions. Stock leafed cars must run stock leafs, mounted in stock locations, with stock hangers. If broken springs need replaced, factory step down and thickness are required. No custom made leaf packs, leafs over mains, inverted springs permitted. Any questions and you will not participate. Five spring clamps are permitted on each leaf pack using no thicker than ¼” and no wider than 2” steel. No welding or bolting of leaf springs or clamps to the body or frame. No duct taping or welding of springs together. FULL SIZE TRUCK RULES (in addition to above rules for Mild Weld Class Rules) Any American made truck is permitted. 4-wheel drive trucks may only run 2WD (pull a driveshaft). Any STANDARD ONE TON and down is permitted. If truck frame has extra support brackets or is beefed up from the factory you better call before building and we’ll come look at it! Officials decision will determine if it can be ran!! Suburban’s are permitted. Tailgates may be welded shut using 3”x¼” strap. A maximum of 48” of strap may be used. Back bumper or tailgate has to be 16” of the ground. Beds must be welded to the cab of the truck with a 3” strap directly behind the doors. An interior four point cage is required to compete. The cage may not extend outside of the cab into the bed. However, it may attach vertically to the frame in four locations. No metal may be added to the frame to attach the cage. The vertical bars must be welded directly to the frame. Car bumpers may be used. Factory bumper brackets can be used or 3”x3” angle or square tubing 8” long. A single piece of 3”x3”x¼” angle iron may be welded from the left front frame rail to the right front frame rail (in front of a-arms) on all front coil sprung trucks only. Front leaf sprung trucks may use a chain from rail to rail or from the engine cradle to each rail. Trucks must securely fasten gas tanks directly behind the center of the cab in the bed. 48” piece of ¼”x2”x2” angle may be welded on inside of tailgate. Fix aplate rule 6”x6”x1/4” follow car rules! If abused plate will be cut off!!!! NO HUMP PLATES 1/2 ton trucks CAN run kicker bars off front cage bar down to the a-arms cannot go past the a-arm! BONE STOCK RULES: No Engine Swaps No Bumper Swaps No Shifters, Headers, Engine Protectors of any kind, no aftermarket parts. Battery may be relocated into drivers compartment Original gas tank must be removed and replaced with a steel fuel cell, boat tank, etc. No plastic tanks! No original tanks!. Driver's door may be welded shut. All other doors, trunk and hood must be wired or chained. No welding. May have one cage bar behind the seat to protect the driver. 3-in. maximum dimension. Stock suspension. No welding of a-arms. Must have 9-wire, chain or a steel strap in the windshield to prevent the hood from entering the driver's compartment. Stock automotive tires and wheels. No agricultural, skid steer, trailer, v-treads or solid tires. YOUTH COMPACT CAR RULES: This class is for the kids AGES 11-16 W/O DRIVERS LICENSE to let them learn how to strip cars out, build a car to the rules and be a good sport when they win or lose. Proof of age IS REQUIRED. Upon arrival a notarized parental consent form must be filled out or you will not be allowed to participate. One parent must be present with valid I.D. A notary will be present to notarize the entry forms. A PARENT OR ADULT MUST RIDE WITH THE DRIVER. This is for instructional purposes as well as a possible emergency situation. Participation Rules BUILDING - All cars must remain stock unless specified in these rules. All cars must be factory front wheel drive, 4 or 6 cylinder engine and wheelbase must not exceed 109". INTERIOR – Interior must be stripped 100%. All carpeting, interior molding, rear seats, headliners, inner door panels and any other flammable material must be removed. Passenger seat must be left in and dash left in. Airbags must be removed. Both Seat belts must remain in place. Vehicles MUST be swept free of all debris. BATTERY - Must be mounted inside the car, all parts of the battery must be covered with a non flammable material. KEY START RECOMMENDED. WELDING - One bar behind seat IS MANDATORY; 12 x 12 inner door plates and No larger than 6" diameter pipe. A roll over bar strongly advised. A 4 point type safety cage can be placed in the driver’s compartment. Bars may not attach to the floor or the frame in any way. FUEL TANKS - Tanks must be made of steel a 4 point hold down bolted to floor with a minimum of a 2" washer on the underside of car. All hoses must be double clamped at all connections. Electric fuel pumps must be operated by a switch that the passenger can shut off in case of a fire. EXTERIOR – All plastics, lights, trim moldings, wheel weights, foam bumpers and door handles must be removed. NO TUCKING OR WEDGING. WINDSHIELD - Must be removed. Must have 2 places of #9 wire, banding, strapping or chain in windshield area to protect driver/passenger. Mount this from roof to the cowl panel. It must not be attached to the hood. HOODS - Can be secured in 6 places. 2 strand #9 banding or chain. DOORS - WELD outside only with 3"wide x 1/4 thick strapping. Both outside front doors can be reinforced 6 inches past the door seams. TRUNKS – Can have a max of 45" of 3"wide x 1/4 thick strapping welded to the factory trunk seam area so 15" on top of trunk lid and 15" around the trunk/bumper area. NO TUCKING/WEDGING ALLOWED. BUMPERS - Can be from any compact car, or 80 and newer car. They must be bolted on at the factory location; ½” bolts, 2" washers max size. You can wire your bumpers to the trunk lid in 2 places and the radiator support in 2 places with #9 wire.
THERE CAN BE 12 " OF WELD ON EACH BUMPER. THIS MEANS ON THE MOUNTING AREA YOU CAN HAVE A 3" LONG BEAD OF WELD IN 4 SELECTED LOCATIONS. TIRES – Tractor treads allowed. No studded tires on the front. You can glue, screw, double and stem protection is allowed. Remove all wheel weights. SUSPENSION - FACTORY SUSPENSION ONLY! Coil springs may be wired or welded in place. It is permitted to weld a 2” plate from bottom of A-arm to frame to raise front suspension. MUST NOT STRENGTHEN FRAME IN ANY WAY. POWER WHEELS RULES This class is for the kids AGES 4-7. Bring Birth Certificate in case of a challenge of age. Upon arrival a notarized parent and/ or legal guardian consent form must be filled out or you will not be allowed to participate. This is a Fun Class to get small kids there first taste, of a Derby, any Power wheels that are too fast or heavy will not be allowed to run, This is for the Kids to have Fun! 1. Derby entry fee is $10.00 2. Power Wheels for Kids 4 years old and up to 7 years old. 3. Stock, Electric, Regular Size, Power Wheels with up to a 12 volt lawn mower battery. Battery can not be mounted in the passenger seat. 4. Helmets must be worn. 5. All doors, hoods, and tailgates must be strapped shut. 6. Use zip ties or duct tape to fasten shut doors, hood, and trunk. No sharp or protruding edges. Track official and or inspectors decisions are final.
