Folding and bolting/welding is a good option.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably be asking some more questions later on as this is my first derby car. I'll be running in a pretty stock class, we can used cradles and pp, but no dp's. And can only weld a-arms forward.

And this is why I'm here to learn from you guys, lol. I will say. I like the car you chose for rules given. There are a few very good GM midsize builders on here, (99x and Riley come to mind) that have already offered a ton of tips.

Inner fenders in my opinion offer little structural help but little is better than non and on midsized with the frame you have your going to need some extra there. If they allowed any one set of automotive bumper brackets get ready to go on a scavenger hunt! The midsized section in the gm section of the build tips is where you will find a good set of helpful info. Posting rules or a link to the rules will allow us guys to look and really pick them apart and give you the most out of what you are able to do. Only thing is, we can guide you in the right direction, the actual work you put in is on you.and since it's your first time going through tech your gunna have to grow a set and stick to your guns when they don't like something

I have read the Mid-size thread a few times now, and I'm sure I'll be reading it again. I am fairly mechanically skilled so this will be fun either way. I will be fabricating my own shifter, gas/brake pedals as I have a plasma cutter and good welder. I will be stealing several ideas from the site. I want a slider drive shaft cause I see these cars do like to bend at the firewall, but I will have to see how the budget is when the time comes. As far as the rules, I can run a cradle and PP, weld arms forward, factory bumpers only. Bumper brackets must be used, I'm only allowed a 4 point cage around the driver, and a halo bar, no bars from the halo to the floor or frame. I can't leaf the rear end or have added braces to the rearend, no pinion brake. The trunk can't be tucked and must remain out side of the quarter panels. Thats pretty much it.

Very good rules for these cars. Fix the small bend in front of that a arms with bumper shocks/brackets and you have a very usable front end. These rears are fairly easy to get to roll in. Even without a tuck.
