I bend steering wheels. I've tried most OEMs and recently bought one of the solid aluminum ones off of Derby Parts. Bent that one in the first heat. What do you guys have luck with?

Ya speed knobs are great until you drop into a rut or break a tierod and it spins around a thousand times and breaks your arm. I don't know if I'd want one in my car. Ever tried a Grant GT wheel? Never had one in a derby car, but I've seen some take some serious abuse in race cars and mud trucks.

What is bending the wheel? If it's your arms you need to relax and just palm the wheel not a jedi death grip. If it's your gut, you are either too close to the wheel or ya may want to cut back on the cheese burgers at the fairs.

Make your own. We bent several before we just made our own. Steering knobs do work for a few people. It's kind of like throwing fire crackers though. You don't see what the big deal is until it goes wrong...
Later Brandon

No way im putting a knob on to whip around and break whats in its way.

Not my gut, but valid question. I assume it's from bracing for front end collisions on large tracks at higher speeds. I'll look into the grant wheels.

Bought it at a junk yard several years ago for 15$. Prolly find a decent one at a pull your own parts place for under 30$ I'm betting still.

I have yet to bend one of the 3 spoke chicano wheels. I don't know what the actual name is, so I'll snap a picture of one later today. I'm only about 170#, but also have trouble with a lot of OEM wheels.
