So I picked up an 06 Duramax 3500hd flatbed work truck for next to nothing. I sold the motor and trans out of it and now I have the cab, front clip, suspension, and frame. Has anyone ran one of these or seen the frame under one? They look like they should be a great truck frame to derby. It's boxed up front and c channel in the back with cross members every 12-16 inches. The questions I have are- #1-, should I run the torsion bar suspension up front and raise the Front end with the torsion screw? Or swap it out with a leaf pack and run a solid front axle from a mid 70's highboy? #2- should I run the stock axle and weld the gears up? It's a duelly with 3.73 gears.. I plan on running a 440 to power it with 7x16 tires on the back. Not sure if these axles are strong in a derby scheme. And last one #3- should I use a cab and bed from a mid 60's dodge? Or are the original 2dr can and front clip pretty strong when you can add 1" all thread up front, and 2"x3/16" flat strap on the seams..
