• Any full size passenger truck type vehicle – pickups/suburbans/vans/tahoes/etc.
• No dual wheeled vehicles
• ½ ton trucks with 5 or 6 lug hubs are allowed a 1/2”x5”x24” piece of steel welded to the frame on each side – at the location of your choice
• No front drive shafts if vehicle in 4WD
• Radiator protection allowed in truck class only (see full rules for details)
• Cab must be welded to the box – other body panels may be welded – inspection hoes may be requested – NO DOUBLE BODY PANELS OR DOUBLE FLOORS

The Isabella County Youth & Farm Fair Demolition Derby is promoted as an unusual spectator attraction in the interest of safety; everyone entering is subject to and must obey the following rules and regulations set up by the promoters where the event is to be held.
A. Each driver must fill out an entry blank. All drivers must supply their own trucks, only one entry per person unless otherwise specified.
B. Each driver and each member of their pit crew must sign a release form the day of the event.
C. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age. Drivers under 18 must have notarized release signed by a parent or guardian. Participant need not hold a driver’s license.
D. The promoters reserve the right to approve or reject any and /or all entries.
E. Only owners, drivers, mechanics, etc. who sign the release form will be permitted in the pit area or on the track. No one under the age of 16 is permitted in the pit area.
F. Each driver and member of his/her pit crew will pay an entry fee, as follows:

1. Any FULL SIZE passenger truck type vehicle (Truck, Suburban, Van, Tahoe, full size Broncos, ect.). No dual wheeled vehicles. ½ ton rated, 5 or 6 lug hub, vehicles may weld on two ½”x5”x24” pieces of steel at any part of the frame (1 per side). ¾ ton or 1 ton chassis vehicles CANNOT add the additional steel.
2. If vehicle has four wheel drive, then the front drive shaft must be removed.
3. Drivers may maneuver forward and reverse. No deliberate head on collisions or driver’s door hits allowed. Anyone observed deliberately hitting the driver’s door will be given a warning. A second violation will bring immediate disqualification.
4. No team driving or two-way radio communication allowed.
5. A time limit will be announced by the officials. A driver not hitting another vehicle within the time limit will be disqualified. “Sandbagging” will lead to disqualification.
6. Lap safety belts (no shoulder harness), long sleeves, approved helmets, goggles or face shield are required.
7. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that a window net be installed behind the driver’s head. All drivers must demonstrate a safe transition from rear pickup window to box. No sharp edges or pinch points.
8. All glass, molding strips, door handles, vehicle emblems, door locks, mirrors, sun visors, nose cones, plastic body panels and trailer hitches must be removed before arrival at the race track. Vehicles must be swept clean and free from debris.
9. Gas tanks must be relocated to the back seat area in front of the rear axle or inside the box at least 6” from the back of the cab and securely fastened. Gas tank / gas tank bracket cannot be attached to the frame. No plastic gas tanks are permitted. Metal boat tanks or fuel cells are recommended. Any vehicle spilling fuel onto the track will be disqualified. Any car igniting on the track will be allowed one fire before disqualification.
10. Vehicle must have a safe fuel transition from the tank to the engine. Steel line is strongly recommended.
11. Electric fuel pumps are allowed. On/off switch must be located left of steering column on the dash with OFF in the down position.
12. Pump grade gasoline, racing gasoline or E-85 fuel only. NO ALCOHOL AS FUEL.
13. A hole must be cut in the hood near the carburetor.
14. Only one 12 volt automotive type battery allowed. Battery must be relocated to the driver’s compartment, securely fastened and covered.
15. All doors must be fastened closed by wire, straps, chain or welding. A driver’s door coming open during a heat will disqualify the driver. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that the cab be welded to the box. Steel may be used to weld cab to box but no other steel will be allowed. Welding of body panels together is allowed as long as the body is not welded to the frame. Lowering the tailgate is allowed.
16. Inside the box a MAXIMUM of twenty 1/8”x2”x3” plates may be added over the inner box seams to hold the box together, if plates are used factory glue must remain in seams. If plates are not used, then factory glue can be removed and only twenty 3” long welds can be used to hold the box seams together, no extra steel can be used if glue is removed.
17. Box sides must remain on truck. Any truck with cab or box side knocked loose will be disqualified. No wedged rear section and vehicle must run near level and close to stock ride height. Chains which limit suspension travel may be used, however the chains must have some sag to them to allow for some suspension travel. Solid suspension or chain binding the rear end down will not be allowed.
18. Driver’s door must be painted white with numbers at least 18” tall.
19. A chain must be places between roof and dash for hood protection.
20. A halo cage surrounding the driver and a roll over bar will be allowed. The MAXIMUM steel size for the cage is 2”x8” tube or structural equivalent. The halo cage CANNOT be welded or bolted to the floor or frame. Kickers to the frame or to the distributor protector are NOT allowed. ***The halo cage does not guarantee safety, it is simply an attempt at safety for the sport***
21. Distributor protectors, transmission braces and engine cradles are allowed. If using an engine cradle, STOCK lower motor mounts must be used. The lower motor mounts can be welded to the crossover. No full engine cradles will be allowed.
22. Slider drive shafts and re-enforced rear end housing will be allowed. Rear-end may be welded posi (recommended). Steering shafts may be altered. “Racing type” steering shafts must have slip joint and/or a knuckle in line.
23. Tires must be passenger type DOT approved. Inner tubes will be allowed. Tires within a tire or foam filled tires are NOT allowed. Wheels must be 15”, 16” or 16.5”. Valve stem protectors are allowed and must be a rocker arm or equivalent. A valve stem protector falling off the wheel will result in disqualification. No screwing tire to wheel.
24. No double body panels, 3/16” inspection holes will be drilled in each vehicle during inspection.
25. Hood may be fastened by no more than 7 attachment points using chain, wire or bolts.
26. Stock bumpers only. Bumpers may be welded solid to the frame but NOT welded to the body. No car bumpers, “homemade bumpers” or knife edge bumpers allowed.
27. Body mounts can be removed. Body can be bolted tight to frame, no gap or spacers required. Body bolts to be installed at factory locations and at each factory cross rib. However, two extra bed/body bolts at driver’s desired location will be allowed. A MAXIMUM or 20 sq. inch washer may be used per body mount bolt.
28. Radiator protection (Bull Guard) will be allowed. Bull guard can be made from 2” square or equivalent. Bull guard construction consists of 2 horizontal tubes, 2 vertical tubes and 2 kicker tubes that can only extend back to the center of the front ball joint. Bull guard can be bolted or welded to the frame and pipes must be within 2” of the radiator. Horizontal tubes cannot extend past the vertical tubes to the corners of the core support.
29. Rear safety bars will be allowed from the box floor to the top of the back of the cab. Braces can be made from 2” square or equivalent. Inside the box, braces are to be located between the frame rails and in front of the axle. Braces cannot be bolted or welded to the frame or frame cross members.
30. Steel may be added for safety or stock strength repair only. ALL additions and materials used must be approved by Todd Sorensen and may not add excessive weight to the vehicle.
The feature payouts will be as follows: 1st place $1,700 + 4’ trophy; 2nd place $700 + 2’ trophy; 3rd place $300 + 1’ trophy. Trophies & $50 for the top two in each heat.
There will also be a “Mad Dog” trophy given out to the most aggressive driver. Cash payouts are for the feature only.

11. Gas tanks located behind the rear end must be relocated to the back seat area in front of the rear axle and securely fastened. Stock gas tanks located in front of the rear axle will be allowed. No plastic gas tanks are permitted. Metal boat tanks or fuel cells are recommended. Any car spilling fuel onto the track will be disqualified. Any car igniting on the track will be allowed one fire before disqualification.
12. Electric fuel pumps are allowed. On/off switch must be located left of steering column on the dash with OFF in the down position.
13. Pump grade gasoline, racing gasoline or E-85 fuel only. NO ALCOHOL AS FUEL.
14. A 10" hole must be cut in the hood and trunk lid.

17. Foam will be allowed in the driver’s door for protection. A chain, strap or a single 3"x3" welded in bar from side to side will be allowed to support the back of the front seat. This bar cannot be bolted or welded to the frame.
18. Driver’s door must be painted white with numbers at least 18” tall.
19. A chain or equivalent must be attached in windshield area for hood protection.
20. Tires must be DOT type tires. Inner tubes are allowed. Tire within a tire and foam filled tires are NOT allowed. Valve stem protectors are NOT allowed. No screwing tire to wheel.
21. No suspension modifications allowed. Coil springs may be fastened by wire.
22. No pre-bending, wedging or trunk tucking will be allowed. Only chain, bolt or wire in 5 places on trunk lid.
23. Hood may be fastened by no more than 5 attachment points using chain, bolts or wire.
24. Only the stock automobile bumpers to that make of car allowed, bumpers cannot be re-enforced. Bumpers can be chained or wired to the body. No “Homemade” bumpers or knife edge bumpers allowed.
25. Must leave stock body mounts in.
26. No engine cradles, distributor protectors or transmission braces allowed.
27. Re-run Bone Stock FWD cars must be approved for competition by Todd Sorenson. Any car determined not to be “Bone Stock” will not compete.
The feature payouts will be as follows: 1st place $500 + trophy; 2nd place $200 + trophy; 3rd place $100 + trophy.

17. No tire rule, any tire type can be used. Wheels must be 14” or 15”. Valve stem protectors are allowed and must be a rocker arm or equivalent. A valve stem protector falling off the wheel will result in disqualification. No screwing tire to wheel.
18. No double body panels, 3/16” inspection holes will be drilled in each car during inspection.
19. Pre-bending or trunk tucking will be allowed. No wedged trunks or trunk welding. Only chain or wire in 7 places on trunk lid.
20. Hood may be fastened by no more than 7 attachment points. No weld on hood.
21. No tilting front frame rails in anyway.
22. Any automobile bumper is allowed, bumpers may be loaded and re-enforced. Bumpers may be welded solid to the frame but NOT welded to the body. No adding big points on bumpers. No “homemade bumpers” or knife edge bumpers allowed.
23. Top frame seams from the A-arm forward may be welded. No other frame seams can be welded.
24. Front A-arms may be welded down with two 2”x4” straps.
25. Body mounts can be removed. Body can be bolted tight to frame, no gap or spacers required. Body mount bolt washers CANNOT be welded to the frame. At the core support mount locations, a 3” riser MAXIMUM can be welded to the frame to raise the core support. Body bolts can only be at factory locations. However, one extra body bolt per side at driver’s desired location will be allowed.
26. No all thread allowed what so ever on any car.
27. All cars must sit near or above stock height, NO LOW RIDERS will be allowed.
28. All vehicles will be allowed to add a ½”x5”x12” support plate on the outside of each frame rail near the rear axle. The top of the plate can be a MAXIMUM of 4” from the top of the frame.
29. Steel may be added for safety or stock strength repair only. ALL additions and materials used must be approved by Todd Sorensen.
The feature payouts will be as follows: 1st place $1,500 + 4’ trophy; 2nd place $500 + 2’ trophy; 3rd place $300 + 1’ trophy.
There will also be a “Mad Dog” trophy given out to the most aggressive driver. Cash payouts are for the feature only.
