Alright. Just found 2.5 tbi engine and trans. I can make an adaptor to mount a single or 2 barrel carb to the tbi intake. My big question is how to wire the stock distrib without having to buy an hei distrib. Any input?

I just carbed & hot wired my 2.5. It was outta a 86 olds cutlass Ciara. It had four wires out of the dist. that use to go to the ECM- blk, tan, white & purplish. Black I grounded. Ran power to purple. Didn't need white or tan. Then there's a pink and a white wire that go from dist to ign coil- left the white alone, cut the pink between dist. and coil and ran power to the part of the pink coming out of the coil. Had to turn the distributor retarded some.

DEC Headers made me a really nice set of headers, I would reccomend going through them, tell them that you need to bypass the motor mount bracket on the motor. I gave them the measurements for it and mine lined up well!

Carbing a fuel injected 2.5. I have some questions. Do these have a coil pack like 3100s? If not do you have to leave the computer hooked up to run even with a carb?

I have a Davis Unified Ignitions Performance Distributor for these Iron Dukes if anyone is interested. It is an HEI distributor and does well on these motors, you only need one power wire to it to run it. I thought it enhanced the performance of my motor personally. It's like a 400 dollar distribiutor. Let me know if interested and we can talk price from there. I only ran it one season in like 3 derbies then I broke the block on my motor. I only have two of these motors left and they are ran off coil packs and I don't think a distributor can be installed. For this reason I went two the 3.1 motor out of the APV mini van, so I no longer need the distributor.

Okay guys I just picked up a 1998 lumina ltz with the 3800 series 2. The motor spun a rod so I pulled it out. Have a complete 1981 citation 2.5 carbureted and I dropped that in it. Everything lined up except lower motor mount. What all do I need to do to get this running.

It has the hei dist, its really big so was wondering if there was a different one to run so it won't get broke and what flywheel do I use? Use the 2.5 starter? Stick with the stock carb?
