Why are the rules 80s and newer? Not being a prick, just asking. i dont even own an 80s car. add old iron and tilt on a 80s car and your pretty even, then remove full side leaf spring wagons and now you got variety! Something to watch. just a thought.

went back and read, whatever....Typical promoter copy and paste. I busted Tim and Russ's balls about the same thing, I ended up just sponsoring a whole new class that filled in days. What 80's car do i build when i got a field of 60s and 70s stuff? Hey a vic..... something new.

There have been some questions on how we are going to determine which cars are acceptable as 1980 and Newer. We realize that most cars were manufactured in the late 1970's through the 1980's. Where do we draw the line? Read below.
In order for a car to be allowed/accepted/legal for the 1980's & Newer class the car and body style must have been offered in 1980 and up.
For example,
- Chrysler Cordoba - The body style/platform changed in 1980. Any 1979 and older Cordoba's are not permitted.
- Chevy Caprice - The caprice changed platforms in 1977. It is very difficult to distinguish between a 1977 and 1980 caprice (weather it be a 2-door, 4 door, or station wagon). 1977 and up Caprice/Impalas will be permitted.
- Chrysler St. Regis - Manufactured from 1979 to 1981. Exactly the same body/platform. Anything St. Regis older than 1979 will NOT be permitted.
- Ford Crown Victoria/Marquis/Lincoln - Platform was introduced in 1979 and ran through 1991. 1979 models are permitted. 1978 and older are NOT permitted.
- Cadillac (Deville, etc). The platform was changed in 1977. However, some models are considerably different in 1980 than the previous year. If that car & body style was not available in 1980, then the car is NOT permitted. (Example 1977 Deville 2 door is considerably different than the 1980 Deville 2 door). As such the 1977 to 1979 Deville 2 door are not permitted).
If you have any questions, please call, pm or text before you build.

Attention Driver's/Buildings for 80's No protector class.
Aftermarket Tie-Rods and re-enforcements are NOT permitted for the 80's & Newer No Protector Class. Factory suspension/steering components.
We have had a few calls/emails on clarification on this subject. Tie Rods are considered part of the front suspension. This is not a rule change, this is a clarification.
