I'll ask this just for my own curiosity and to pick the brains of the thinkers on here. How many BTU does your standard (clean, fresh rebuilt) SBC create? I'm a big fan of oil coolers and if A guy could figure out an ice bath + a fan type cooler system you could potentially run an motor for quite a long time with no cooland and a solid block. There are just too many variables for me to figure it out on paper so I figured I'd ask. Depends on the fuel.

Ran I 4.3 dry block my last derby and it seemed to run better then with water. I've had good luck doing both though.

If you loop hoses and do not run a radiator are you still running the fan?

If you loop hoses and do not run a radiator are you still running the fan? I've done it both ways, didn't see any notable difference either way, but I figured the extra air being moved under the hood couldn't hurt.

Didn't do to bad without the fan. Going to run an electric fan this weekend and see how that goes. Here's where you get into having a properly tuned engine!
