what is the best way to protect the oil filter on these big blocks i seen here in a thread about a bypass block off but no one has said anything i have asked to purchase but to avail no reponse

Don't know if this will help you, but they make a shoter filter, that should help. Can't remember the # of it, but I'd think any parts store should be able to find that.

2.2 oil filter will work.

I wrecked a sweet 383 cuz of the oil filter.. And I had the smaller filter... Just a bad design for derby use

I use the K car filter and wrap it in layers of old seat belt material and duct tape. Knock on wood, haven't lost one yet....

summit racing used to have em they are part of a relocator kit but I think you can buy the housing sepaerate

If I remember correctly, the one in the picture came from a relocator kit but had some internal mods so that it worked properly, u can't just buy the relocator kit and plug the line holes and go. Just a heads up.
