Anyone ever weld up the hole on the outside of the rim, then drill a new hole on the inside ? Might be hard to reach with a drum brake. But surely very little chance of it getting clipped off
Im quite sure protectors would not fly here, but this might be a way ? I run no brake on the right front..not even a mount for it on the spindle so it should be good for 3 wheels ?

Problem is with the room between the drum and the rim. On most tires, there's not much. If you're not running a tube, then I'd just put a short valve stem in. I use stems for lawn tractors. I work in a shop and work on tires a lot. There's no difference between long, short, and medium sized valve stems unless it's high pressure. If you go with the short stem, then it's tucked in an inch or so, and isn't as flexible. Simple, cheap, and effective. If you take it to a small shop, they'd probably charge you like $5 a tire to put one in. But if you do want to run a tube and put the stem in the back, make sure you have the clearance or else it'll just get ripped up.

It will work just put a old stem in the current hole drill the new hole close to center of the rim

Can be done and is quite easy. Back in the day before we could weld over the stems, I used to do this. Just mount one on the car and take a look where you have the best clearance. Mower stems are shortest for non tubed but we ran tubes and still work fine. Placement is key. Weld up the old hole and grind smooth on the inside. If you mount close to the backside of the wheel, you can torch out a hole for access to the stem but its more fun watching them try to figure out where the stem is. Tell them you used pre-charged tubes.

I did it for years when we were not allowed valve stem protectors. They protested my tires once because they thought I had solid filled tires because I forgot to put the Schrader valve back in the dummy stem. It was pretty funny to see Stony Roberts face when he crawled under my car. Of course it was legal.

Lol ...gotta watch what I do to it. We cant reinforce at all. But its not in the rules where theair gets in. I have a feeling doubling would be called reinforceing ;-) we can run up to 8pr though

Well I am gonna do it..on all the tires I mount from now on. But will put in a standard stem in the outside hole lol
I mount them with a jackall jack and bars..by hand So its not something I wanna domore than I need to lol... Trick to setting the beads is a clamp on chuck..And a ball valve 50 feet away on my air comp hahaha
Bang bang..off goes the air ;-)

Waste of time??? I hardly feel that the case. All the guy was asking is if it can be done and does it work. Buy a set of SS style wheels or drill a hole..........Hmmmmm
