IMO the smaller the car the better, depending on the style of figure 8. I run barrel-style figure 8, not oval figure 8. The smaller car will have less weight wanting to push you past the turn, plus you will fit in smaller gaps to make passes.

There was a guy a couple years ago that stuffed a supercharged 3.8l into a eclipse in michigan. Now you wanna talk a fast car. Up.here the w body GM's is pretty much all we run for figure 8's and enduros.

^Do you run those purely due to strength or do you feel they are pretty quick or handle well?

Who cares about the back end? You need a strong nose, that's the lumina. But if it's a small track the eclipse would be better on tight corners. My perferred car for small track 3 tire is an older caviler.

Either car will make a good car. They each have their own advantages and I would not be afraid to run either car anywhere. My friends and I have ran everything from foreign cars to w bodies to worn out derbied escorts and had great luck with every one of them. So I would build both. Beside if one sucks compared to the other. Keep it for a back up! You can never have to many backup cars

Mainly run the w bodies because the engines. Cant beat the power of the 3.1 some guys started using grand am for the added power of the 3.4. Then you got the durability of the front end on the w bodies. If say you build a grand am, malibu, or what not youve goot do a front steering knuckle swap. The w bodies already come with steal knuckles. You can also run a little bigger tire on w bodies than other cars makes getting through the mud a little easier. But all in all it personal preference. I like them for the durability. Can build two cars and run a full year. Ran a ford countour once and it lasted 4 races before the trans too a shot.
