I've tried quite a few setups at my local "tuff truck" races and honestly the best luck I've had is a 1 ton Chevy cargo van with a 350, welded rear end, 33" swampers and stock suspension. I've taken 1st place 5 years in a row with the same van in the 2wd class... As for 4wd, Bronco II with F150 front springs and a 2.9L is my drug of choice. No weight in the van and 300LBS in the rear of the bronco

Depend son what type of track you are ruinning.
but a cherokee or TTB front end ford lands the best it seems for stock stuff.

From my experience the best vehicle to use for trucks class are any thing like a GMC Jimmy and most trucks 4x4 with a short wheelbase or short box; anything longer looks and is just awkward to drive and to watch. For setting up suspension, there is a superstition in my town that comes true every year and its "the more you do to your vehicle the worse you do" so stock is better. My town has also included a cars class and from what iv found out low center of gravity is nice for all cars. Now deciding between FWD or RWD it depends on your track and how you drive, i have also found out through experience manual is fun and can compete but automatic is by far better. On any vehicle i would remove interior and grab a used window net incase of a role over, its happened every year in my county to at least one vehicle. I hope this helps this is everything i know that I'm willing to give up.
