Do you run an alternator on you motor? Has anyone had any issues with running electric fuel pumps and no alternator?

Prefer to run one, just so I don't have to always charge battery between derbies. No lost sleep if it doesn't happen.
Shouldn't be a problem if you have a good battery, and aren't spending half your time cranking.

I'm too lazy to be constantly recharging batteries. I have 4 different drivetrains in cars at all times. I cant keep up with which batteries are charged and which ones are not. I run an alternator on every car regardless of how many batteries, electric fans, electric fuel pumps, etc. There is not any logical reason not to run one. IMO

No need to run one. Never ran out of battery power either with elec fans. No alt also means less wires, less belts and less problems.

I personally don't because I was having a problem with the belt popping and taking the power steering with it

I always ran one just to have 14V to the ignition system. Anyone run the high volt racing batteries (not high amp, there is a difference)?

I personally don't because I was having a problem with the belt popping and taking the power steering with it A serpentine type belt setup for the alternator/water pump solves that problem. On my P/S I run lawnmower V belts. There are so many opinions on this subject it has been debated for years. It all comes down to personal preference and whatever works best for you and your setup. The best setup is whatever wins derbys for you.

I prefer to run one but if I don't have all the brackets handy and ready to bolt together, I don't lose time or sleep over it. It's better with, but I can live without.

This is my first year running without. I will have two new batteries and only be running electric fans and a fuel pump. I'm not too worried my heats aren't that long
