Not to be a pain in the ass but do you have a link for one so I can see.. I have seen several styles.. I wanna order the right one we use the one from summit,,, ya have to trim it to fit a ford carb power valve and throttle linkage,, or use the flat power valve cover,, www.summitracing.com/parts/ctr-85-040/overview/chuck the EGR plate and use this,, .............lenny Thats what I use also. I have always used the flat powervalve cover, without the external vacume line. With that and a thick ford base gasket you can clear the powervalve and linkage without trimming the spacer, in my experence.

Lenny, I use a thin gasket between the intake and spacer and the thick gasket between spacer and carb. I don't know for shure if 2 thick ones would fit with the stock studs, probably to short.
Leadfoot, those phenolic spacers are pricey but i think they're worth it. Like Lenny said keeps the carb cooler, stops a lot of heat sink.
Good to see some poeple running the 400's. I never had problems with them in the ltd's I ran other than trying to fit exhaust. Nobody wants 351m, 400's or fmx trannys around me so they're CHEAP! & I like that.
Nice lincoln Lenny.

I have been curious how the FMX will hold up. Any tips on that?

Nice lincoln Lenny. thanks man,,, my son's car,,, ok,, since we are the only ones that run these M motors,, heres something to keep the carb cooler..... ya take off the intake,,,, cut out a piece of metal to fit in the exhaust cross over passage on each side of the intake,,, mig weld them in,, grind them smoothe,,,, there now there isn't any hot exhaust going under the carb,,, #2,,, in the front of the heads,, there is a hole for thermactor air pump air to flow into the heads,,, weld that up,, grind smoothe,, 351 cleveland intake gaskets are cheaper than the turkey pan gasket.. #3,,, make a heat shield out of thin aluminum to put under the carb spacer,,, don't forget the extra gasket.. make it about 10x12,,, trim it as needed,, use the old EGR plate to drill the holes,,, who knows how to make the big holes ?...

Thanks Lenny, I'll have to give that a try sometime. I never had bad luck with a fmx, and I never treated them nice either. I always thought about adjusting the bands but never did, if you have an old chiltons manual they show you how pretty well.

how do you go about adjusting the reverse band on these I have one off of a 351m I use on my 302 that I love and im getting ready to rebuild and was wondering how you did that and also what the purpose was. I have also ran m's my self but run mostly 80's cars and don't have the room for one. wish I still had one for the 73 linc I will be building but scrapped them both.

Has this become a transmission topic? Its a good thread for those of us that use M motors these transmissions. I'm not complaining
