run a single power wire to the + terminal on the dizzy and your good to go. either use the twist the wires together method or a toggle switch to complete the circuit

ok so the same as the old Hei wasnt sure if they had changed things. Havent looked under the hood of the car and wasnt sure if they had made them different yet in those years.

I need basic wiring instructions or a diagram for my sbc 350. I have a toggle switch for my main power, one toggle switch for my tranny cooler fan, and a push button start. Can anyone give me a simple diagram or instructions to wire my motor. Thanks

what all are you running and do you have points or hei? I wouldnt run an alternator. and if you are running an hei you run a hot wire to the distributor from your main toggle switch and a wire from push button to starter. I have never run points so I am not sure on them

Depending on your finances, I see most people in my area that are running HEI, cause they can get them for around $50

Nice diagram gutknecht. I made that up and I believe it covers all aspects of wiring a small block General Motors product. Pick and choose what you run. If you're doing a single heat, I would say no alternator would be just fine. (Didn't run one on my first 3 builds.) However, if you're doing heats/feature I would say keep your alternator. It's simple, as the diagram shows. Jump one connection and run a single wire to your battery.

I run both wires (red and black)or just the red to the stud on alternator the wire from stud on alternator to battery ?

One wire from the stud to the plug and another to the battery.

From what I had read you needed to "jump" the one side of the plug to the post, then run the wire from the post to the positive on the battery. Do I not need to do this? Maybe I was doing an extra step?

ok so do i need 2 positive wires coming from the starter to the battery? or does anegative battery cable go to the post on the starter?, its a ford 302 with an hei and a push button and toggle, thats all wired up i just need to get the engine to crank, i believe its a 4 post solenoid, stock starter, any help? thanks

stock starter I think for the car I believe your working on without any information should be a solenoid on the starter.That being said u need to put the hot wire from the battery to heavy post on the solenoid.The smaller wire that clips on goes to your toggle switch thru the switch also to the positive of the battery.Your ground is ground thru the engine block and a ground wire from there goes to ur "-" on ur battery.
