74 LTD wagon.... leafed with a heavy leaf pack thats fairly flat and mounted solid to frame. Will it matter if its sedagon or leave the roof up? youtu.be/B0BvH4a6nK4 here's how a local did his wagon. Tucked quaters an roof. An never used the rearend. Was still coil spring. If I leafed one an aloud to push roof down an have gas tank protector then I'm putting a sheet of steel between the two an rear the all threads through it too if I can I'd weld it every where it touchs.

Anyone ever leaf an 80s Ford wagon and have it sitting really low in the back? I know there is a chance of pulling the body off the frame, but I do have some 9 wire ideas to help lessen how much its ripped off the frame

I ran against a leafed ford wagon in June. I kept clearing his rear bumper hitting body and it bent real nice. He got 1st lol. Bigger body washers and nine wire help.

I was going to leaf mine then decided against it due to time...I'd leaf it just like you would a sedan. Just use a bigger bolt and washers to hold body down and I wouldn't set assend super low...imo from watching alot of these run the fronts seem to be pretty stout idk y compared to a sedan 80s wagons that is

My plan was to flat stack or be close to it. Then run 9 wire inside the car from the halo to the rear bumper in two spots. Thought the 9 wire might catch the body and help to keep it from completely getting smashed into the package tray and leaving the frame hang out there. I would also dimple the frame about 12 inches from the bumper to give it a bend point to pack in a little.

I am running a mid 80's ford wagon. I bought the car as a pre-ran and it is built to rules that are very similar to derby icons bone stock. I can't plate anything, i cant leaf the car, but i do have the suspension nice an high. I am not new to running 79-02 fords but an new to running on as a wagon.
What are things i need to watch out for?
What are things i should do to get the rear to roll up? I have cut out most of the tailgate and notched the rear frame rails. I can use as much #9 wire as i want since it is a pre-ran.

Keeping body on the frame is thr biggest issue with them and try to keep it going up square best ya can

owen11x - I have hammered the rear pillars in the middle and above/behind the rear wheels. I will also be #9 wiring the body to the rear bumper and probably swap a couple body bolts per my rules. I followed an earlier post where the guy did a hybrid notch/dimple and then a notch on rear frame rails.

I guess if it were mine id take tailgate right off but its a horse a piece there is up and down to each way. I just like to build my cars a little softer in the rear and just let it do its thing once it goes up, add body mounts between your notches and chain humps and run a chain from rail to rail at the base of hump and just do what you can to keep body on. Drop it a tiny bit lower than front and let it rip

Frame and roof were notched. Body bolts changed. Car was built 10+ years ago.

I bought mine as slightly pre-ran so i had to cut out part of the tail gate. I will work on making sure the body stays on the frame and wiring between the rear rails. I'm not able to chain the humps and can only run 1 loop of #9 around the frame, rear, and through the rear coils. I like to drive backwards so it it will probably look like the above pictures when i am done with it....lol
