Will linking the fuel pump to a switch as well as putting in a toggle and a push start bypass the Anti-theft? Or will that leave me with a bigger problem with the anti-theft system? This is for a 1998 Lumina and a 1998 Monte Carlo

This is for a 1998 Lumina and a 1998 Monte Carlo I think those should be VATS....visible resistor in the key. Wiring the fuel pump won't affect it. You'll have to bypass it before wiring the ignition. Follow the instructions at vatslikeabigdog.com

I was able to pick up an already stripped 2001 sunfire, but the guy removed the instrument cluster. If i go get a replacement cluster would a 90s instrument cluster work, or does it need to be 2000+?

C4, I think I will save myself the hassle of installing the toggle, push start, and anti-theft system & just roll with the old fashioned key in the ignition start up on these newer cars.

Do what you will. Neglecting to bypass the VATS key was once my undoing.....once.

What kind of setup do you guys generally run in these cars? I usually pull out the dash and run my toggle and push start, but those cars didn't have the Anti-Theft and I've read some nightmare stories on this thread of guys accidentally setting off the anti-theft. Lol

Lol If you have the kind I described, all you have to do is install resistor(s) in the VATS circuit, as per the instructions at the afore mentioned address.

I have a 99 cavalier and my key didnt have a chip on it. i cut the yellow wire running into the ignition while it was idling and as long as i leave the instrument cluster connected nothing will give me an issue.

My 99' Sunfire thats a work car the switch went bad {couldn''t turn back to get out key) replaced with new. Would not start. Tried every trick ---- Faulty new switch.
