No they give me 20$ for my core. I just ordered it this mornin. I buy my stuff threw piston ring. Also they told me they don't make resisters anymore so I get to treasure hunt.

they dont make ballast resistors anymore? bullshit.... i used to work at autozone and o'reilys both... for some reason.. i notcied if its not on the screen right infront of them.. they say "oh we cant get that".... all it takes is a little time and effort.. you could damn near find, and buy anything through them stores IF you find someone willing to try..
heres a part number for you.. strait from autozone.. ballast resistor ( AL795 ) price is $3.99
also.. another thing... heres the part number for the distributor ( 30-3820 ) - price is $37.99 w/$15 core

Typical parts guys.. I was on the phone with a guy yesterday. He Told me a could keep my resistor cuz its a two prong, but change the coil to points style. And it shoUld work for Me. I will try when I get my distributer. Thx for the part number. If I need to order one now they can't have excuses

sorry to be blunt but anybody who tells you stuff like that doesn't know jack $hit about Mopars. If he says he can't get a basic item like an ignition ballast resistor it's time to find a new parts store. Worse than that he's charging you double for the distributor he is selling you (strike one) and I have to wonder if he's even selling you the right item.
...just because it is a two prong resistor doesn't mean it is the right resistance value. The points system is designed to work with a 1.0 Ohm resistor but for instance many of the variable speed wiper motors used a ballast resistor that looks identical to the ignition one but they were usually between 0.25 to 0.75 Ohm. Some of the electronic era ballast resistors are anywhere in between 0.5 to 5.0 Ohms. Will the ignition still work if you plug it in, yes, but it won't be working with the amount of current the system was designed for. Fortunately a points system is so primitive that it is very forgiving but if you want it to work the way it was designed then get the right parts. (strike two)
...and for the most part the defining characteristic of a coil is the secondary voltage output which in the case of a common cylindrical coil is mostly a function of the amount of windings. Points, electronic, and Lean Burn coils are all basically the same in terms of windings and output so there is no need to replace one unless it is defective. (strike three you're out!)
Unless you like bad information and getting your wallet pumped, I'd strongly suggest looking for a new place to buy parts....

Hmm interesting... I think the part guy was just lazy or somethin. It was actually a guy that Derbys those cars mostly that told me that Id need a coil as well, he just did one last week and his brother did the same so I figured I would just do the same.

i dont, and havnt ever owned or ran a mopar.... but given a 69' fury with a 318 for my info... i simply got on autozone.com... looked it up.. and gave you part numbers within 5 mins.. this is why i hate parts store employees... its funny when you take a part number with you..but dont tell them, ask them for the part.. let them look for 20 mins and let them bullshit you as to how they cant get it, etc.... then bust out a part number and watch them get a lil odd looking, like "oh shit" lol

Hahah if I need to get any more "unavailable" parts I'll giver a shot! I got my new points dizzy today, didn't mess with it today tho, figure I should mount my battery first so I can mount My switches (which I also have never done) so it might get interesting for me hah

Follow his advice if you want to, I tried...

Would just like to say, I put that lean burn junk off air cleaner last year n mounted it tight to my dash bar in my 76 Newport. Was only five cars in my heat and I was destroying them, then it died n wouldn't even click. Come to find out couple sodered wire came loose and that's what screwed me. I'm going points. N thanks for all your help guys
