So been thinking on it. What are opinions on 2dr 74 lesabre built for limited weld class? 12 inches of plate, change body mounts, no hump plates, lower cradle only, 2 down bars to frame minimum 10 inches behind firewall, hardnose bumper, gtp against package trey? These cars like to belly out hard right at the door jam. Without the big C pillar it's a weak spot that you need to consider when building your cage and plates.

If it's the start of the door I'll put down bar to frame there, if end of the door shouldn't gas tank protector tight against package trey prevent that? Also allowed to add 4 body mounts. Sorry lol

Sorry lol Belly at the door jam, where it latches. The doors blow out and roof kinks above your head when the frame bends. A proper cage, halo bar and a gas tank protector will help a lot. Tie this all to the B pillar and door jams will keep it together.

Best way to keep a car together is put effort into it, try to learn from what took you out on your last run and keep moving.

Just picked up a 76 Chevy caprice. Was made 04 of 76 only rust is the passenger side floor and couple holes on the b piller and around the rear window. Trunk humps are solid and frame is solid. Trunk is solid. Any tips on what to do like tucking trunk. Creasing body panels. Plan on building it over the next year. Have a 10 bolt built. Just got done building a delta 98 73. I tucked the trunk bent the frame. I will run the delta in July. Then I will build the caprice. Any leads or info to point me in the right direction. Have caprice bumper or swap for 76 montie bumper.
Thank you Michael Tolle

Lots of good info in this thread, you’ll have to read through it, also what class are you running? Quick answer is tuck, and crease, put a good cage in it, i’d Like a 74 impala bumper on it but if you load the 76 it would be good, an easy way to do that is get NLR’s 76 bumper kit. Pretty straight forward cars.

Pretty straight forward cars. Might take it to Utah but I haven't read the rules there. Walla walla is putting on a good show/ series. We cant load bumpers up here in northern Idaho. I'll start the reading process. Thank you for the advice. Going to take me a bit to build so time isn't a problem. Looks like I'll read and build slow.

Ya sounds good, that’s the best way to build any car, slowly and with lots of thought. I’d hardnose but I know since they have the good cups people don’t like to.

I like to hardnose and use the cups.
