I ran one not shortened. Made it 11 shows but after first show it needed plates due to Goin sideways at struts

With stock rules here, I was able to get away with shoving some bolts & screws through the front parts of the fenders. Kept them from tearing off. I like it 👍

I've got a ? I'm looking to buy a convertible 86 mainly for the 2.3L in it and part out the rest but my curiosity has me wondering would a convertible have any extra frame supports/gusset or added strengths to it that would make it worth it if I where to weld a new roof to it and a good cage then run it?

Despite having a rag top instead of steel, the 86 LX convertible is 302# heavier than the 86 LX trunk sedan and 244# heavier than the 86 LX hatch back. Take from that what you will.

Hmmm now you have me thinking I might have to sit on the car a little bit before I decide to part it out I would think most that extra weight could be electric top motors and trunk brackets and pieces and panels that enclose the trunk front where the top folds in roofs and hatches are only a couple #s of sheet metal each 302# is not that much weight to gain and could very easily drop weight after you strip all those parts off but maybe there is some bonuses to that extra weight that's where my curiosity has me wondering if someone has delt with a convertible might have some insight thanks for the weight difference c4 that helps

I traded off a 93 convertible last year and it had what looked to be an extra layer on the frame in the middle. Talked to some mustang guys that said they are definitely worth building.

What kind of shifter setups are you guys running? I started my first Foxbody build and I'm not quite sure how the stock shifter is going to hold up.
