So on these Y frames they bend at the ys if you don't plate them, but the bend behind the a arms if you do? So to me the answer to this would be plate ys (if allowed) and make a good engine mount off the back of the heads to the frame behind the a arms. then in front of the a arms it would bend. So you would maybe put another engin mount there. And then put a dp protector off the back of the motor, ( even if there is no distributor there). then make sure your bumper is on good and sub is bolted in tight? Any thing I missed? Or does it even sound like I'm on the right track?

From everything I have read, if you do not do something with the Ys they will collapse and twist and go every which way. My motor mounts for my chevy motor are right on the crossmember and I have 2 smaller mounts to the tranny-engine bolts one on each side behind the A frames and I am hoping that the nose will be tough enough. I know that it will bend and I am unsure of where but my guess is that mine will bend betweent the Ys and the A arms. I think that you are on the right track and the more bracing the better, because from what I have read it will bend somewhere.

If allowed shock tubes to be welded inside frame get the 76 linc square tubes and weld soild messure the tube from the back to the back of the bumper mount then then take the number and messure how far it runs in the frame and mark it on the frame then messure from aarm to that line on the inside. cut a piece of 2" square tubing and weld it on the back of the shock tube then cut the front cap off the y then hammer the tube inside the y and weld soild. that fixes aarm froward

Behind aarm is taking care of will good engine placement and dp. Then just make sure the sub is bolted in tight to the floor

Goin, Don't really know if it'll help much, but I'd go with bigger and thicker washers with those bolts. And locknuts. And I've seen others who bend that "cuff" over, and weld it, if your rules allow, I'd also do that. Every little bit helps. LOL

Thanks for the advice but I am pushing the rules pretty far as it is. I wish I could have welded them up and I am hoping I can get away with what I have here and still have enough strength to do some damage.

Plus, a shocker sub would be a million times easier and likely stronger than a GM front frame section.

In my opinion it has nothing to do with putting chevy on a mopar but just putting weaker parts under it. A 70 GM noses way faster than a shocker, so I would go with a shocker frame. As matter of-act I am attempting this as we speak.

I might have my hands on a 65 Plymouth fury 3. first derby car but grew up around building Chrysler new yorkers. Is there any big difference between the two or should I build it like I would a New Yorker. I'm running against 70s chevy wagons and sedans.
