Just picked up a 72 Cadillac Coupe with around 10K original miles (some minor roof damage), the 472 in it runs like a champ and looks brand new obviously. I have heard these actually can be pretty good derby motors, and it doesn't really look much larger than a 350, maybe it is just me seeing it in the huge Cadillac Engine Bay. Anyhow, I have a stripped ready to build 75 Cadillac Sedan, how hard would it be to put this 472 in the 75? Is it a direct bolt in? What kind of issues would I run into. I have yet to find a market to sale 472s and I don't want to just throw it in the next load of scrap, so I am looking to put it to use. Any help would be great.

The 75 should have had a 500 in it, which is essentially the same thing as a 472. Bolt in and go type of thing. And if you like the end results, I have a couple 500s and 472s id sell ya, since I'm not a big block fan. My cadis' all run sbc. BTW, is your 72 you just bought for sale? pm me

you guys building 75 or 6 might want to check and weld the frame seams on bottom side of frame right by the spring pocket and where the lower a arm mounts. mine had 3 or 4 inchs that wasnt welded from the factory and started to pull apart.

when settin up chevy mounts like in the picture, are you not gonna have to cut a ton of the fire wall out?

when settin up chevy mounts like in the picture, are you not gonna have to cut a ton of the fire wall out? I set mine up pretty similar to that if u use a dp u will have to push the firewall back just a little bit.I use a porta Power and hammer. If you don't have a dp yes u have to cut it out. You will have to cut out the trans tunnel as well for your trans to clear...mine is cut about an inch above the brace that runs across the firewall.

Speaking of the tranny tunnel do any of you pre notch it, where it has the double thick fire wall.

Speaking of the tranny tunnel do any of you pre notch it, where it has the double thick fire wall. Get rid of it if you are running chevy motor and trans, I have seen them break bellhousings if left in. They can also cause driveshaft problems if you pull the body pucks, learned that the hard way.
