Yeah both those wagons had the humps chained on them. The first wagon pictured kept the humps fairly straight it just started to belly out hard in front of the rear wheel

I just bought a 73 olds custom cruiser, the body is tender from behind the driver seat back. the frame doesn't have a pimple in it tho. ive never ran a wagon before, im more of a Cadillac guy. I can seam weld frame firewall forward and can plate the crush box under the firewall. how do the backs of these hold up? I need to patch over some of the body mounts in the back. didn't come with front bumper but I can change bumpers anyways as long as there no higher than 24 inches to top of bumper.

I think it's best to sit the backend low so you're actually hitting with the body until it packs in well. Hitting with the frame will cause it to belly quickly or blow the humps. Low sitting cars will eventually belly too but the humps seem to last much longer. I think the soft rear bumper and box are why the 71-3 rearends seem to hold up better than the 74+ cars with the hard bumper on the frame.

If you're flat stacked with 9 leafs and chaining humps it doesn't matter, slap on anything as it's not going to have any bounce anyway.

I am building, or i should say rebuilding a 72 Buick estate wagon. Someone half welded a 75 hood on it. I am going to cut it and the clip off, i have the choice of either a 73 electra clip or 71 chev clip. To me the electra clip looks more beneficial and easier to install. It also looks like the chev clip would not line up with the core support mount. why do so many guys go with a chev clip. the buick is heavier and looks more put together, am i missing something?

A lot of benefit in re-clipping with 73-76 Chevy clips... 1 and 2 Chevys are better than some, but in my opinion, you'll probably be just as well off with the 73 Buick clip as the 71 Chevy.... And no, the core support holes will not line up between Chevys and BOP.... Just a little enginuity is required...

the buick clip is better and the hood hinges can be reworked to benefit keeping the front down even more than in stock fashion. the buick clip is heavier than the chevy clip the chevy clip can be "fudged" to line up,but not a direct bolt on still. run the buick clip, youll be happier

Do these have bolt in axles? It's a 75 if that matters.
And on that 75, would it be better to just run the stock rear metric bumper I had on my car last year? It's basically just a skin but has steel on the mounting points

What way would be the best to set the bumper set up on a roundback? Get rid of the bracket and just weld the shock and collaspe to the frame and then weld bumper to frame and shock or leave bracket and collaspe shock and just welded bracket to frame and shock ? Just looking for best set up

Just looking for best set up Are you talking about the front or rear? I guess I don't fully understand your two ideas, but I'm going to throw this out there just in case you're unaware....... The bumper brackets are not mounted to the frame on a '74-'75-'76 roundy..... They are mounted to the body which makes it a little more difficult to keep the back bumper on these 3 years vs '71-'72-'73s...
