Entry fee is $50 for drivers and $30 for riders. Payouts will be on a tier system based on number of entries in class. Pay for 11 or more entries is as follows:
1st $800+ trophy
2nd $400+ trophy
3rd $200+ trophy
4th $100
Mad Dog $150+ trophy
This class is also eligible for the Triad of Thunder Pinckneyville, Illinois

Perry County Fair Derby
Mini Van
General Rules
These rules apply to all classes for the Perry County Fair derby.
1. Top five in the feature must actively compete at the end, no driving yourself on barriers or dirt berms. Failure to comply could result in complete restart with all feature qualifiers actively competing again or disqualification.
2. No reinforcements allowed other than specified in these rules. Any metal added to reinforce the car is illegal. You will only be allowed 2 trips through the inspection line.
3. NO PAINTING, UNDERCOATING, OILING OR GREASING OF FRAMES. YOU WILL NOT BE INSPECTED. THIS INCLUDES PAINTING OF THE FRAME FLAT BLACK.
4. NO HITTING IN DRIVERS’ DOOR, but also no using the driver door as a shield. If the hit is deemed by the official to be careless or intentional, you will be disqualified. If you use your driver’s door as a defense, we will not enforce the rules. If you use the door as a defense repeatedly you will be disqualified. This will be at the judges’ discretion.
5. NO hot-rodding in the pits! Keep it at an idle.
6. You must make AGGRESSIVE contact every 60 seconds.
7. Sandbagging is not tolerated and will be strictly enforced. Locking up the brakes prior to a hit for anything other than a driver’s door will be cause for disqualification. The fans pay to see a show, put one on for them!
8. IF YOU THINK SOMEONE IS SANDBAGGING, HIT THEIR CAR WITH YOUR CAR ON THE TRACK.
9. Winning cars plus three out of the money must remain on track until released by officials or will not be paid prize money. Cars are subject to re-inspection before any prize money is handed out. Cars found illegal will be stripped of all prize money for that event.
10. Any questions or controversies will be discussed at the drivers meeting
11. YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST A 12” X 12” ROOF SIGN WITH YOUR CARS LEGIBLE NUMBER ON IT. If this is not able to be accomplished, at minimum your car number must be visible on the roof (for the announcer stand) and on the sides of door.
12. All drivers must pick up earnings at the completion of the event, or forfeit. They will not be available after that date.
13. All persons MUST sign entry form, insurance waiver, release form, pay entry fees, and purchase pit pass before entering pit area. Be prepared to present a valid driver’s license at entry. All driver’s winning prize money will be required to provide a social security number to receive your check.
14. THERE IS NO ALCOHOL IN THE PITS. This includes pit crews. If you or ANY of your crew is caught with alcohol, you will be disqualified.
15. No harassing of the judges will be allowed at any time by drivers, passengers, crew members or spectators. Failure to abide by this rule, the driver will forfeit all money, and all involved will be escorted from premises.
16. Registration forms will be filled out the day of the event, or through online pre registration. All drivers must be at least 16 years of age; drivers 16 and 17 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a minor release form. All drivers must be able to present a valid driver's license at the time of registration.
17. All drivers must wear approved helmets, eye protection either safety glasses or visor on helmet, long pants, and shirt. Also, all drivers and riders must wear working seat belts. This will be enforced in 2023 or you will not run!!!!
18. - Drivers must remain in the vehicle with helmet, seat belt and eye protection on until notified by an official that it is safe to exit the vehicle.
19. A driver that receives a black flag for an intentional door hit will be disqualified from all competition for that night. A driver that receives a black flag for sandbagging or 1 fire in the interior of the car will be disqualified. 2 fires on the exterior will be disqualified, if in heat you may go to consolation. This will be at the judges’ discretion.
20. This is not a team event; team driving will not be tolerated
21. All drivers must attend drivers’ meeting prior to derby
22. All cars must be removed from the derby site by 12:00 noon the following day unless otherwise stated at the drivers meeting. Failure to do this will result in cars being removed by and becoming property of the Perry County Fair Board.
23. DO NOT paint anywhere on suspension or frame; if we can tell it has been painted, we will not even inspect your car.
24.ALL SUNROOFS MUST BE COVERED WITH A THIN SHEET OF METAL, I.E. WELDED OR BOLTED (WITH BOLT HEAD INSIDE THE CAR) OR RIVETED. NO # 9 wire or chain to accomplish this will be allowed.
Mini Van Gut n Go Rules
1. You may move wire harness to rear of engine, but not inside van
2. Vans must be FWD only or All Wheel Drive with rear disabled.
2. No carb swaps or distributor swaps. No headers. No Aftermarket shifters. No aftermarket
Pedals.
3. Bumpers must remain 100% stock oem that came on the van, no exceptions, even if they were
plastic. Must remain unaltered and no welding or reinforcing. (No stuffing unibodies – we will be scoping them). You may have 2 strands on 9 wire per side from bumper to core support to keep the bumper from falling off.
4. Driver’s door and front passenger door may be welded solid with no wider than 3 inch strap forsafety. All other doors may be welded with no more than 6 inch of strapping—cut as needed.
These doors may also be wired or chained shut.
5. Hood and Hatch must be held shut with chain or 9 wire only, 4 spots max with 4 strands per
location. Hood must be open for inspection. No all thread allowed for hood hold downs.
6. You can have a maximum of 4-point cage that does not exceed more than 12 inches behind seat. You can also have a fuel tank protector, but can only be as wide as fuel cell – not door to
door—Halo bar is also allowed and can only be bolted to roof in two places.
7. Must have some sort of window bar to keep hood from entering driver’s compartment.
8. Factory tank must be removed from under vehicle and mounted inside the rear seat area in
front of the rear axle. Battery must be relocated to the passenger floorboard area and secured.
9. Suspension must remain stock except strut shaft may be welded to set ride height. You may also chain or wire to limit suspension travel. This may be done with one spot per wheel consisting of 4 strands of 9 wire around unibody area or one 3/8 chain with a 4 inch long bold. Do not abuse this rule.
10. You may run any tire but it must be pneumatic…. No solid tires, no foam fills…. Inner tube is allowed.
11. Must remove all glass.
12. If something is not stated in the rules, that means you can not do it. If you do, your car will be loaded.
13. Pre run vans will be allowed 4 patch plates total, 2 per rail. Max plate size is 4”x4” x ¼”
14. Pre run vans will be allowed bumper replacement.. You may run any OEM stock 80's or newer bumper with basic attachments.
ALL JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL
