Is there any one out there with pictures on how to collapse ys on late 60s mopars thanks in advance Any reason your pinching them rather than plating them? Or stuffing a gm shock in there and welding?

It’s pretty straight forward if you do it, but it’s more work then just plating the top and “welding the plate, frame, and fender “ all together 🤫and using you’re allthread plate on the bottom to basically pinch them together. Still gonna bend/ accordion in the same spot

Just been wanting to try it to see if it would help the the frame from buckling where they normally do first time running one in a limited weld am allowed 14inches of bumper bracket as well as closing ys or collapsing along with seam welding to fire wall as well as 2 fresh plates

I never pinch them, personal preference i like having the whole y for welding bumper on. I plate top and bottom or stuff a shock in and hard-nose it that way. I'll tell ya 2x2 slides along ways back in there also... just sayin. Plate in front of a arm and at firewall of course. And if you can weld a piece of plate to frame behind a arm that extends over to torsion bar and make it so the plate surrounds torsion bar and weld all the way around t bar then over to sub and weld it that will help keep sub from pushing into torsion bars and also from torsion bars pushing out the back.

Is there any one out there with pictures on how to collapse ys on late 60s mopars thanks in advance Here was my thread during my build. They didn't allow any bumper bracket but I cut bumper and put bumper back to the cross member to shorten it up and hold heavy bumper. Id run another but I'd use a 65 to 73 y frame have the older models but thats my opinion. we-crash.proboards.com/thread/70696/framer-build-thread
