Anyone ever run the stock Buick front bumper brackets with a Chevy bumper? Thinking about running a 76 Lesabre in a bone stock heat but can't change out the brackets. Not sure if they will hold up.

They need some weld, if you can sneak some weld on them it would help for sure. They rip otherwise q

If your rules allow or try to slide thru, cut 3 pieces, 4 in flat metal about 7 in long and build a little box around bumper shock & weld bracket like 88 said above.

Is it an option to just hardnose? Me personally I just would prefer to go that route

Would like to see the rules on bumper mounting to give you the best advice possible cause every derby is different as far as rules but either way for a bone stock show i think you will be fine with what you've got. Collapse and weld shocks...weld shock plates to bumper and weld brackets to frame as much and as far back as allowed. If you have a set or can get a set use a set of Pontiac brackets...they are about 4-5" longer which allows that much more welding on the side of frame plus theoretically they are the correct bracket. 😉

Can't hardnose. Factory brackets must remain in stock location and configuration. Allowed to weld anything 4" back from bumper. Probably going to keep the Buick bumper on it to take some pressure off the brackets, but I'd like to flip it upside down.

Replace the bolts with new bigger ones. Add extras. Add as big of washers inside frame as allowed. Weld as much as allowed.

I ran them on two cars with a 1976 Impala front bumper. It held up great on the first one, but the part of the shock that would typically bolt to bumper, that area tore off the shock on the second derby. For the second car, I had cut this bumper with the brackets already welded on off as an assembly from the first car and I welded it on to the next one, so this was derby two on all of the components. Mine could only be welded 4 inches back except for four one inch tack welds anywhere on bumper shock, bracket. I added an extra bolt or two and washers for bracket to frame area. I had zero issues with the bracket ripping, just the shock itself.
